Origin of Bobfather??

Does anyone know the origins of the use of the term "Bobfather" to refer to Bob Devaney? The first time I can remember seeing it was clear back in 1978 (my freshman year at NU) in a Daily Nebraskan article. (Okay, now I've dated myself!)
