North Dakota Play-by-Play

We used our first timeout with a minute left and they were on our 14  with 2 timeouts of their own.  They were already in field goal range, there was nothing more to "open up." Frost deserves blame for a lot of things, but using the timeouts is not one of them.
I wasn’t really blaming Frost for anything just giving an alternate perspective, though you  are correct about the game.   I had this game mixed up with NW where NW went for it on fourth and one on their own side of the field after the timeout.

Yeah, I just don't get this.  We look to be slanting the DL.  And we have the safety blitz to cover the back side.  But it would seem that we also need to bring an ILB backside to help cover.  Reimer doesn't even get blocked and doesn't get near it (except that he ran himself into traffic).

Probably just a good play by the DE on the first one, though Benhart could probably have gotten to him faster and at least got a shove.

Manning needs to squeeze the second one more.

It definitely qualifies as "creative" but we do a lot of work for a play that was only going to get a couple more yards even if we get those blocks.

Whipple (I think) said Thompson never saw this guy.  Which is probably right.  But he was right there just kind of hanging out.  Not like he quickly dropped right in the passing lane.  You kind of have to expect a LB underneath in zone coverage, especially right over the middle.

Glad having a Special Teams Coordinator has fixed all our ST issues...
What is your problem with having a ST coordinator? Two games in and it looks better, but who in the world thought it would be fixed overnight? The reason for all the calls for it was Frost clearly couldn't fix it with what he was doing, so having a dedicated guy couldn't hurt, and it hasn't hurt so far.

Personally I don't care if you have a coordinator or not, just get it done, but Frost can't get much of anything done so it really doesn't matter much at this point for Nebraska anyway.

I'm sure the inside cut looked right at the time.  But it would have gotten really interesting if he cuts this outside.

If we didn't have one this year and made all these same mistakes, people would be cruising Frost for being too stupid for not having one.  People always want to believe "if the coach would just do ___________, we'd be so much better."  It doesn't work that way.  We tried every way there is.  There isn't a magic bullet.  Stupid stuff still happens.

A lot of other teams, especially in our own division, do this stuff very well though.  Some have coordinators, some don't, but none of them have Scott Frost.

So it's not a Scott Frost problem, then.  And it's not a have a STC/no STC problem.

Thanks for proving my point.
