What players leave after the season? 2022/23 version

I don't think that Anthony ever showed anything last year in his limited time and probably had no shot of playing this coming year.

But we now have 4 non true freshman OTs on the roster:

Benhart - awful

Corcoran - better suited at OG, awful at OT

Teddy - still unproven and can he stay healthy?  

Hood - needs a body remake, never taken a snap

That OT from Stanford that backed out was needed in the worst way.  Hopefully there is a plug and play option available after spring ball that we can grab.

I wonder if in retrospect if Polar Bear would have worked out better as a OL vs DL??

Development! It was lacking across the board. This is why every offseason we found immediate contributors in the transfer portal and they were all day one starters. No one was working to grow the kids we had.

pretty mind boggling on paper and a quick glance.  

Not too surprising though considering:

  • Under frosty the offense was pretty much 2AM centric, outside of a few guys (some mentioned below), no one was really featured besides him
  • Stanley morgan doesnt hit this list being from a previous staff but he did well early on
  • Spielman had moments and then obviously left early
  • Austin Allen doesnt register on this list but was a featured guy for frosty
  • Due to Wan'Dale and JD leaving, probably overly reliant on transfer portal to fill gap and guys like Toure/Palmer dont hit this list yet put up great stats.
  • More of a systemic issue of frost- poor red zone execution: Frosty & 2am had no issue getting yards but the mix of 2am's deficiencies coupled with a s#!t o line and questionable redzone calling= leaving stats on the table
  • Outside of a few stretches of games here and there, I feel like we havent had a runnning back who could confidently score at the goalline since ameer and he wasnt even a classic power back

  • As you said Stanley was a Riley guy.
  • Spielman was a Riley guy
  • Allen was recruited by Riley.
  • Toure was good. But he was good before he got here..  Palmer would have never been here without Mickey Joseph.

You state that the problem is that Frost's offense was to much 2AM.  Then, you go on and list guys that did well under him.  Yes, there were guys that did well under Frost other than 2AM.  But, this is talking about HS guys that he recruited, brought into the system and if they shined or not.

After looking at this, this part of his program was an epic fail and it's not because of 2AM.

I think he means that their wasn't enough guys involved to help 2AM to carry the load.  He never said that bc SF put the burden of the team on 2AM shoulders it was his truly his fault.  Yes JD and Robinson contributed but in the end it was about if 2AM wasn't going to make a critical mistake at a critical time in the game if others around him would have or should have stepped up to the plate to take pressure off of him.  It was the coaches fault for not developing.  Second tier coaches for second hand results.

I know I've remarked before about how Spielman was Riley's only WR recruit that was worth a damn. Somehow Frost managed to have an even worse track record with WRs, which is sort of bizarrely impressive.

It's really sad that offenses under Frost and Riley would be so dependent on solid/strong WR play, yet, the WR recruiting has been an abject failure under both of those regimes.
