I think I see my dad in the background of that Nortre Dame pic.  He missed my first collegiate start to watch that game.  Not that I remember or anything

You were right on till you added spilling his beer.  He stopped drinking beer before I was born.  Don't think he spilled much before then

To this day watching YouTube vids of the Schlesinger td’s gets me misty eyed.
