Callahan's Last Hurrah?

No rumors here, just speculation.

Given the fact that we have an off week after the KSU game, and that those two weeks are prime recruiting periods, I wonder if BC doesn't step down after Saturday's game, Watson is named interim HC, and he directs recruiting efforts for the next couple of weeks, until the replacement HC is named.

I think it's getting to the point where Osborne has to consider recruiting and how pivotal the next two weeks could be. There is no chance in hell that BC remains HC, and you'll likely see Cosgrove, Elmo, and perhaps Wagner gone as well.

But I wonder if BC ends his tenure after KSU, and we get a jump on moving forward.

Whats the difference to recruits between having Watson or Callahan as coach. Either way both are gone at the end of the year, both are lame ducks. TO will be a man of his word, and 1.5 seconds after the CU game we will hear exactly what we all want to hear.

I honestly think all of the coaches will be out of a job. We are going to be screwed on this recruiting class unless a new head coach is named almost immediately after the CU game.

I'm thinking Callahan will be fired on Nov 24th, which is the day after the CU game. If a miracle happened and we won that game, I don't think Osborne would bring the team down, but even if we lose I do think he'll give it a day.

November 24th is my bet.

I dont forsee anyone retaining there job, not even the waterboy. A new coach gets to decide who he wants on his staff and I just dont see any hold over. I think we will know almost immediatly after the CU game who the coach will be. I wouldnt be suprised if TO announces the new coach in the post game presser.

As far as this recruiting class, it is already screwed. Even if BC were to be fired/step down it wouldnt matter to the recruits because they have no reassurance of who the new coach is or even if the interm coach will stay on. Everyone needs to just bit the bullet and realize this recruiting class is finished.

Callahan and his merry band of idiots will be gone the day after the CU game, but a select few, ie. Watson, Busch and a few other assistants will stay.. for now.

TO won't simply show them the door, he is a man of integrity and knows these guys have done some good things here and they will at minimum be given the benefit of a job interview with whoever the new coach becomes.

How much influence Osbourne will have over whether that new coach keeps any of them is unknown but they will at least get a true sit down interview with the new boss, which is more than some of the previous assistants got when Callahan got here.

Exactly.

If he doesnt get sh#t canned for letting KU get 76 on us , he wont be let go after KSU.

After the CU game he will be toast and we will see what happens.

My hope is that the coach search doesnt take long because it will affect recruiting.
