SMU

If the huskers want Johnson from Navy then they better move quickly. Rumour has it that SMU will go all out to sign Johnson. Alumni at SMU are willing to kick in $$ to bring a big name coach into the program.

On a balance, I would hope anyway that NU has a definite leg up on SMU. Just like no one wants TO to make a rash decision on our next coach, I highly doubt any potential HC worth his salt would make a rash decision on his next job.

add U.C.L.A. as a potential landing spot for Johnson, as they are interested in Johnson, and the guy at boise.

Yes, if Johnson wants to throw his career into the toilet, he will jump on the SMU offer. Relax, none of these guys we are going to look at will take their first offer unless it is their dream job in the first place. Likewise, some of these guys, including Johnson, may tell us to take a hike. We may get the cold shoulder from a lot of guys, just like 4 years ago. Hopefully TO has some salesman in him.

Having attended both Nebraska and SMU, and gone to football games at both institutions, I feel I can say that any coach turning down Nebraska to go to SMU is a complete moron, and I wouldn't want that person as a coach at Nebraska anyway.

I don't think Johnson jumps on a SMU. Why take another "stepping stone" job?. He needs to look for a "destination" job at this stage of his career.

for the love of devaney, people: just because a guy coaches on the the smurf turf don't make him all that!
