what's different with the passing

I think this is more ganz v Keller. Has the playcalling changed with Ganz....no , but Ganz is looking downfield more versus Keller who looked short and dumps.

Ganz reminds me of a MOntana type cat. Has a rag arm, but his timing is awfully good right now.

yah, boy is good. scary good. so good it has to make you question certain things you thought were true... such as...

WHY WASN'T GANZ PLAYED TO BEGIN WITH?!

*ahem*

but that's just me. i'm no football genius, but there ya go.

Actually, the play calling has improved drastically in the last few games. The choices are better and we are establishing the run some, finally. The O-line is actually giving the QB time to throw. Receivers are running good routes and getting open. And so on...

It's got far more to do with overall team production than Ganz vs. Keller.

How about this theory:

Ganz knows the offense. He's been studying it for three years. He's smart and has heart.

if that is true, next question......do we want to continue with an offense that takes 3 years for a qb to master?

is it really necessary?? answer.........no.........goodbye cally.

But does all this occur but simply having a different QB??? Very few dropped passes, blocking is much improved and RB's are seeing the holes and field better. This is the players getting better???

One can claim it all has to do with a different QB, but I'd bet it has more to do with a lot of things.

Has Ganz helped spark the offense? I'd say probably, he's well-liked and has paid his dues, something players respect. But it's not like we have any evidence the players don't like or respond well to Keller, but it's true Ganz probably helps by bringing in a fresh start, so to speak.

But the team looked better against Texas for much of the game, while Keller was in. Keller had some outstanding games earlier in the season when the team was actually playing better. For much of the season Keller suffered under frequent pressure, 3rd and longs, no running game, etc. Those are tough conditions to play under, and only enhanced his biggest weakness...reading coverages.

Ganz comes in with a team that has been starting to pull it together ever since the Texas game. Yes, we got destroyed by KU, but they still were showing signs of bringing it together even then. Now comes Senior Day and everyone comes out with passion. Everyone is executing, the crowd is finally into it, Ganz has all day to throw, receivers are pumped and getting separation so they're open, the running game is working, etc.

I'm not taking anything away from Ganz, because he played great. But the circumstances he has come in with are far different than what Keller dealt with for much of the season. It's just really difficult to compare.

Just to add, I think the biggest thing is the O-line finally starting to execute. We're able to establish the run and we're able to give the QB time to throw. When you can do both of those things, your offense suddenly opens up and starts working.

If they can continue that against Colorado we'll win that game. If...we don't travel so well, heh.

playing K state this week probably helped a little bit too.......a momentum shift and finally.......walah.....a 6 week overdue scoring explosion......it happens just like that, especially this year in college ball.

EXACTLY.

This is why I want Watson to stick around as OC and play-caller. He can keep enough of the offense to keep the continuity, but he'll probably simplify the system as well.

How do you know? I mean, if we have a player in who can execute player better, how do we know that play calling just happened ot change when Ganz got in?

I wondered about this, too, but the change that is most obvious is the QB.

Also, how good is a team that lost to ISU last week? Talk about confusing.

How do I know? Because I was watching the games and I can see that better choices are being made in the play calling. Although Callahan has downplayed it, ever since Watson got more involved in things the play calling has improved.

Is it because of Watson? Or because we've been able to establish more of the run game? Or that the O-line is executing better? Or all of the above?

I have no idea...it's probably all of them. However the fact remains, the play calling has improved.

:yeah Nail on head. The play calling has improved. Watson is a big factor and Ganz is ready to shine.
