NHL 2023-24

Yeah. 33 shots, 33 saves.

Normally a team gets out shot 19-33, they prob not gonna win, or for sure not going to win a shutout 3-0. Panthers are tough when they can grind. I’m gonna say Florida wins the series 4-1 maybe 4-2. Over 2500 miles apart may impact the traveling teams a little extra.
That game really felt like Edmonton came guns blazing, and Florida was rusty, yet the Panthers won 3-0.  My gut tells me Florida all the way after some correction on both sides to the mean.  Skinner will be tested more, and that's not good for Edmonton, plus Florida will help Bob more, which is also not good for Edmonton.

It was sort of a strange game. Like you said, Edmonton came out blazing and Florida a bit rusty but it just felt to me like Florida was in control the whole game.

Oilers will get some goals for sure but Bob is the better goalie and the Panthers are deeper and will play better than they did tonight. And they’re more physical, hits were 63-35. That’ll add up especially fast if the Oilers top line has to keep up with so much ice time. I’m not sure what else Edmonton can do other than get some puck luck.

Nope. It’s this year or bust for your Oilers. You won’t get past the Avs next year  :P chuckleshuffle
Ha!  So true about next year !!!  :woo :woo

Until then, wait 6 more games this year....  Because the OILERS are going to be Stanley Cup Champions !!!!  :koolaid2:

Florida keeps doing what it has been doing throughout the playoffs, shutting down high powered offenses with suffocating defensive work and a very aggressive forecheck. Edmonton just can't seem to get going offensively, and I think the frustration is starting to get to them. The knee to knee hit by Foegele was bad, but I was really surprised by the Draisaitl hit. He left his feet and made contact with his elbow to the player's head. I'm interested to see how the NHL handles this; the last thing they want is for one of their superstars to miss time during the finals, but by definition, he should absolutely be suspended for at least a game.

Shocker, Draisaitl was not suspended...

I didn’t figure he’d get a suspension for that one. A fine maybe, but not a game. Now if it would’ve been a 3rd or 4th liner instead of Draisaitl, then a lot more probable. It was dirty and cheap and looked intentional but other than that, I’ve seen worse.

Beginning to think Oilers might get swept. I think game 3 will determine if the series ends 4-1 or 4-0.

Edmonton played a great game last night (well, after falling behind 4-1) and made it exciting and close. Florida is just playing really, really well right now. I don't know that anyone was going to beat them, the way they're playing.

Yeah, not sure what else Edmonton can do. They were pretty soft in the 2nd but played very well 1st and 3rd. I guess the old adage is true, defense wins championships. Florida’s offense has not been outstanding, just opportunistic, but their D and goal tending and forechecking taking away every inch of ice is too much to overcome. It’s just their year.

The only thing remaining to see is if they’ll slack off a bit in game 4 so they can skate the cup at home instead of in Canada. I can’t imagine the Oilers will mount much of an effort. They have to be mentally beat already.
