Evan Cooper Resigns

Why no Bo Pelini in your list?
I was and am a fan of Bo's.  I wouldn't mind him coming back.  I mean he got 9 wins on the regular.

DB coaches are not well known.  So who do we get?

Looking at top paid DB coaches two former Huskers standout at #8 and #15.  Charlton Warren and Corey Raymond.

Personally, I am over hiring ex Huskers.  I am for hiring someone who can do the job, no matter where they went to school.

As for this situation? We aren't getting anyone this late in the game who wasn't hired by any other school already for 2024, so someone unemployed or it will be filled by a GA type.  Not great a few weeks before camp. Guess we have a built in excuse for a potential leaky secondary, right?

Corey was fired by Florida. He’s not the same and looks old too. I thought LSU hired him as a nonessential type coach- like director player dev or something- but I see he’s listed as the CB coach.  But he’s in his home area and I don’t know that he’s got anymore miles left in him.

Social media....Has gotten a lot of folks in a bind.

People get themselves in binds by doing stupid sh$t they shouldn't be doing in the first place in a world where almost every person in this country has a high resolution camera in their pocket and can't wait to plaster pictures all over the internet.

Wow this is a kick in the nuts.

As long as I can remember, if you get fired/dismissed or you resign on a Friday night, it means that person was in some serious Hot Water.

He did a great job with our secondary tackling.  Best I've seen in forever.

But this smells too fishy to resign without a "goodbye Huskers" tweet with all the kind words behind it.

He been with Rhule for 11 years.

Secondary/Defensive passing game coordinator

Corner backs coach

Recruiting Coordinator 3 years

Director of Player Evaluation

Assistant Director of Player Personnel

I'm guessing that whatever happened that he was involved with, would make Tennessee and A&M self report to avoid probation.  And it prolly caught up to him.  I could be wrong, and I apologize if so.  I'm only trying to connect the dots.

Sure it could be something like that, or it could be him just hitting the wall hard. Laying out his duties like that, no clue about his personal life/family, but that' a lot of responsibilities that if he has a family he's missing a lot. (though I don't really believe this)

As for replacements, you can still only have 10 main recruiters, but you gotta think a call to Busch might be coming. Just get through the season, Busch doesn't need to be a main recruiter and can just focus on coaching the DBs.

Luckily there's a seamless transition available.  Nick Monroe was the secondary coach for Tony White at Syracuse. He's a great recruiter, and is currently the DB coach/ Co-DC at Minnesota. He's also only making $400k a year.

Cooper had the same job with a different title but made $270k more a year. Easy call. I'd be shocked if this isn't already done.
