Sales tax will/would go up...probably a booze and vaping tax increase.

As far as shafting the schools, I agree with you.  And just wait, starting salaries are really high right now and those will not come back down.  School budgets are gonna be interesting.  New OPS teacher will be at 51K I think?  Creighton Prep will be 1% higher than OPS.  MPS will have to follow, which means BPS and EPS are next to bump up.  

 
I live in an extreme Republican area.  I have been in a number of conversations lately where people really don't like Pillen and don't like this plan.

 
It would also save money in police and judges.  I have no idea how much money is spent each year processing possession charges including prison for repeat offenders.  But it can’t be $0.  
 

Not to mention the medicinal value!

Legalize it and tax it, end of story.

My neighbor is totally against it, he thinks that if weed is legal everyone will just become a lazy a$$ pothead.  I always shake my head at that weird notion. 

 
How is ole Pillen’s property tax plan going over back home? I haven’t been able to follow much local news since I moved up north.

I’m kind of just assuming it’s going to hit roadblocks and not happen. Oh and that Nebraska will legalize weed right after the Sun finally burns out.

That was a fear many in Colorado had also. I have not noticed any changes from before it was legal to now. Well, okay, maybe one change. Every once in awhile you’ll notice somebody (not elderly) driving WAAAY too slow. And of course there are those sweet tax rebate checks we get from the state.
