I can't predict how many games we'll win or any future championships, but on Sept  7, the crowd will be loud, when Thunderstruck hits in the third quarter the celebration will begin, and when the game ends we will collectively experience the most cathartic moment in years.

This matchup seems simple to me, it comes down to NU's passing game.  CU plays cover 1 with press coverage across the board when static, passes off motion, and has conflict defenders in the box vs TE's & RB's.  Translation, NU has to beat man coverage, can dictate the matchups, and create separation with motion & play action.  The challenge offensively doesn't get more str8 forward

Love this analysis.

Rhule has said basically verbatim in the past two weeks that "we're not going to be conservative this year, we're going to attack." So I could see the staff being aggressive in the passing game.

But despite the coach speak, I could also see the staff being a little tentative with a true freshman QB in game 2 of his career and trying to feel out how physical we can block against them in the run game in the first half.

 
The stats in the NDSU-CU game went like this:

-Shedeur goes 26/34 (76%) for 445 yards. Wow; 445. They run for 59 yards for a total offense of 504.

-NDSU cumulatively throws for 83% completion and puts up 449 total yards of offense.

That's a lot of yards for Colorado's defense to give up against North Dakota state. Colorado was lucky that all those yards didn't convert into putting up over 30 points on the board.

None of this gives me that much hope for our game against them, though. Our battle is more between the ears in that game, IMO. It's about stepping out onto the field confidently and just running them over. But yeah...their defense seems bad.

Not sure why NDSU continued to single-cover Hunter all night.  I know he's not the only weapon they have but they had no chance in single coverage.

Hopefully we're smarter than that.




 
Hunter and Sanders were good, as expected.  I think Tony White has better athletes than NDSU and learned from last years mistakes to not let 2 players take over a game.

if you watch two of the bigger catches by Horn the defense was definitely watching Hunter.  Like 3 guys.  Those were pretty early on so maybe thats why.

No. A good FBS team should have a large win over teams like this, so it is not a good win for Colorado at all. They should have won by 3 TD at least. To eek out a win by 5 yards at the buzzer is embarrassing. The way their team played was embarrassing.  Shedeur and Hunter out athleted SDSU by so much that they snuck away w/ the W. But the rest of FBS won't lack the athleticism to contain those two.

I know NU has been beaten by these types of teams in the past or barely beaten these teams in the past. Those are "bad losses," and "bad wins." Those NU teams are, "bad teams."

CU is a mess. That team is a bad team. That win was not a good win.

NDSU is not your normal FCS team though. NDSU is closer to a Boise State of old than your average FCS team in my opinion. They would be competing in the American or Mountain West or Sunbelt if they were thrown in there.

I think we would be surprised how some of these FCS schools, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Montana would do against some of the top FBS teams. 

But yeah Colorado's defense is bad, take advantage of it.
