Gun Control

Last year my 20 year old told me that he was so depressed during a period of middle school bullying that if we would have had a gun in the house, he would have shot himself. 

He's grown into a great young man, full of confidence and perspective.

This is 100% why you don't have one in the house.  Great move by you!  

This is the story that turns out the other way so often and it is just not worth it, it just isn't.

I almost always would rather have them get caught BUT now that people are super lame about the death penalty, I am fine if he is dead BUT ideally killed by a cop...or maybe a mean bear, I don't really know anything about Eastern Kentucky but maybe they have bears.

i have my old shotgun.    it isn't kept in the house.  it is kept in my shop that is locked. inside that shop is an office that is locked..  and inside that office there are 2 gun safes.....1 has mine and some of my brothers guns and the other has the ammo.  it has been a couple years since i last did some bluerock shooting....it has been under lock ever since then.

Ugggg, this is such an issue.

You have a gun and you have not checked on it for "a couple of years", that is not being responsible, you don't even know if it is there anymore.

I guess it is "good" that you don't have it in the house, but, that is a low bar.  

If you don't use it, just turn it in to the police.  Makes more sense.  Take your brothers guns as well and get rid of them.  You clearly don't need them, hopefully they are still in the safe and you can go turn them all in.

my brother is on the all american trap shooting list.   he buys shotgun shells by the pallet.   i still like to trap shoot and sporting clay shoot when i can.   just haven't for a couple years now.
