Then you're going to have to start doing something in the run game other than slow handoffs out of the shotgun to Dowdell. Because that looked like s***, too.

Counters, misdirections, pulling your guards, using a fullback, power tosses...something other than what we saw in the first half.

Exactly.   The run game has zero creativity to it.  I don’t know why we don’t play under center more and run outside the tackles or through the tackle on a consistent basis.

I mean, this has been multiple game now and what are the O coaches saying during film……”oh man, if these three things don’t happen and that defender miss a tackle that play totally would have worked.   Can’t believe those three things happened every time we ran that play.  I’m sure it will work next week though”.

And FFS, can we stop with the outside quick screen/quick pass plays!    The throws are too long, Raiola throws it too soft, and the receivers either can’t block long enough or get a block in the back penalty.   How about  traditional RB screen, an interior bubble screen or RB hook routes.

I think the struggles in the run game are directly related to the lack of threats in the WR room.  I would love to see our passing game seeing an all 22 view. Do we really not have WRs open?  Or, is our QB not seeing them? I’m assuming it’s the first option. But, it could be the some of the second. Does he not trust them to win receiving battles?

You're forgetting 1 thing, it's called blocking.  In fact, this a joint coaching problem: no creative play calling, wr & te are horrible blockers on the edges, our line is getting dominated on run plays & our rb fall down on very little contact.

We literally scored on a misdirection play.

I don't know what the splits were as far as when we ran and when we passed.  My guess is we passed more in the second half (I didn't watch the fourth quarter).

But even adjusting for sacks we averaged 4.8 yards per pass play and 2.8 yards per running play.  So until we can find a way to run the ball better, we should actually be passing more.  So this is a pretty hollow comment from Rhule.

Yes, that whole drive was full of great adjustments by Satterfield and that play was excellent. But Dowdell - and his usage - contributed greatly to us not getting on the board earlier.

It didn't really matter though because our defense was garbage for four quarters.

Yeah, I think we're on the same page there. The thing is that sometimes when we're in 3rd & long, our passing game looks so good when we can spread a defense out a bit more, because Raiola is pretty stellar as a passer.

But the staff wants the short swing passes on 1st & 2nd downs and also a lot of inside zone runs. Teams are playing us close to the line of scrimmage on 1st down and what we've been doing the last couple games just looks very ineffective.

I don't think our offensive line is as much to blame as our backs & our coaches.

Raiola missed or was late on the check down a ton yesterday.  This was a strength earlier in the season and now he's holding onto the ball too long trying to make plays happen.  If opponents are disciplined in playing over the top, you can't pretend control routes are options.

On the press conference, when Rhule is citing a failure to get Indiana off the field on the opening drive in a 49 point loss, I don't think he's appreciating just how badly they were outcoached yesterday.  I'm not just piling on, I get it, it's never as bad/good as it seems.  But, as a coach, if we lose, we lose playing our game.  What is that exactly for this team on either side of the ball?  I didn't see it yesterday.

That was painfully obvious.

Their O Line absolutely manhandled our defensive front. Hutmacher recorded zero stats for the game. Robinson had one tackle and one assist.

Well, to be fair. Watching their first drive and then the idiotic decision to catch the ball in the one and step out of bounds…..right then I had a pretty good feeling the game was over at that point. Their heads were not in the game.

Yeah as soon as he stepped out of bounds I thought  "Soooo,.. it's going to be like that today?" The writing was on the wall at that point.

And I am not a "here we go again" kind of guy with the Huskers.  Or I choose not to be, you know what I mean

I dont care how big Banks and the other one is. I have yet to see them get much separation to get open. And they are making big plays down field.

You cant tell me Barneys speed cant get him open. We have a couple other guys who can fly. Now maybe they just suck as route runners but they have to be able to get more separation then Banks and the other one.

Fidone doesnt do it for me. Looks like a big block of tree trying to run and make people miss.  if your gonna get the TE the ball let it be carter.

And for the life of me get a new OC.  I know it aint happening.
