Why was Satterfield hired and given 1.4 million to be Nebraska's Offensive Coordinator??

Anybody have a good answer?  Bc I sure as hell don't.  I question HC Matt Rhule and his decision making skills bc nobody can tell me Satterfield is worth even a million dollars to be a Offensive Coordinator at a Power 5 school.  Im surprised it took us(the fans) this long to catch a fraud here.  Also give credit to Huskers93-97!!!

As I recall, the fanbase has been skeptical of Satterfield since the moment he was hired.
I didn't here rumblings.  I heard people say got to give him a chance bc of the platform he is on now just like HC Matt Rhule or trust him HCMR bc he knows how to rebuild programs and just trust the process.

he was on rhule's staff at temple and baylor, and with the panthers.

this hire was about rhule being buddies with the guy and had nothing to do with him being a good offensive coordinator.

I am in the fire Satt camp but I'm not sure how anyone can fault MR for bringing coaches with him that were part of 2 successful rebuilds.  Nebraska paid him to come here and do what he did at Temple and Baylor.  That is still very much within reach imo.  That said, I sure hope we start to see some positive changes.

"Jeff Sims is an NFL-caliber QB"

Talent assessment is as bad as his motivational speeches are good.

To be fair, he said Sims was "an NFL player" and not an NFL QB.  I thought that wording was funny from the beginning, but it may have been intentional.  Sims is a heck of an athlete, and could probably be a safety in the NFL.  ;)

Maybe I wrongly assumed he meant QB as "NFL player" came after references to throwing, running, his great mind for the game, and getting into the right play.   A lot of QB-centric variables in those words.

He’s a triple threat. He can throw it. He can run it. And he can beat you with his mind as well. He can get to the right play. He’s an NFL player. I think he’s under the radar. Not being talked about a lot. Which is probably good, there’s not a ton of expectation on him. I know our entire team is going to go out and fight for him cause because they believe in him. He’s such a great leader. He’s such a great teammate.

I agree, but this is coach speak.  I think he is extremely careful with his wording, and it makes me wonder how much is salesmanship and how much is genuine coming from him.
