What?  I pretty much said that exactly if you reread it.  Call it whatever you want - blocking down field during a pass play.  The loophole is a forward pass to a player behind the LOS.  Therefor it is not a penalty on the players blocking downfield 5 yards downfield to clear out space.

Ok gotcha.   I consider a rub route to be when a receiver crosses with another server and tries to pick the trailing defender.   
 

We just had differing lingo for the play👍

I think you are spot on the white take. I know for me I have see games and flashes of greatness so he has a longer leash. 

 
Just saw this quote from Rhule.  I think this makes me more mad than the loss...Didn't he say they "play safe" in the 2nd half to protect the lead and teach the guys to win?  Maybe I dreamed that.  But craptastic play calling in the 2nd half and not stepping on teams throats when winning is "playing not to loose".

By the way, Georgia is #93 in the country in rushing yards per game.  They run for three more yards per game than Nebraska does. 

Oregon is #70.  Alabama is #59.  So I'm not sure they're as good at running the ball as you're assuming they are.

I agree, but my point is these teams have a rushing attack that must be accounted for. Their play action and RPO game is effective because opponents have to dedicate at least 1 more defender in a run fit. 

Our opponents don't worry about our rushing attack. They don't need to stack the box, and when they do, we can't punish them with a downfield pass. 

What's your point, anyway? That we shouldn't change anything, try to establish an identity on the ground?

Georgia has played some of the best defenses in the country. We're not even close.

I don't have earbuds in to hear it, but just watching - that's a pick/rub route.  It should not be legal, but a technicality says it is legal as long as the pass is completed behind the LOS.  It's a cheat code.  Maybe it would benefit the Huskers to use a clear-out route / play like that.  They also scored on a similar play.  Defensively, DC Tony White should have noticed this in film study and been prepared to defend that.

Have you listened to it yet? It's all about how the receivers did their job blocking and did it well. And Satterfield does have similar plays like this in his playbook. The difference is our receivers see no glory in blocking and make little effort to spring the guy who gets the ball.

I'm not quite done with Indiana as I want to see if our coaches and players can play a tough game like that one and maybe get behind then perhaps correct things a bit at some point or other, win or lose, which was not accomplished then much at all.

But still, in their last games:

Kyle McCord threw interceptions on 7.8% of his passes.

Dylan Raiola threw interceptions on 6.8% of his passes.

So...

curt cignetti- learns from nick saban - keep pedal to the metal

Indiana staked itself to a 28-7 halftime lead last week against Nebraska. First-year Hoosiers head coach Curt Cignetti wasn’t satisfied.

He let his players know that

“The only thing that counts is where you are at the end, and that’s why I keep the pedal to the metal when we’re up,” Cignetti said Friday on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

“Because in this game, you can score points in bunches. Things happen. If you’re going to preach high standards, expectations but consistency — high standards, never compromise your standards. You get what you demand. Then in the fourth quarter when you’re up three or four scores, you can’t lower your standards. That’s when I’m like a maniac. … I learned that from somebody.”

“What was his name?” McAfee asked jokingly.

Cignetti quipped back, “I can’t remember.”

Cignetti was referencing legendary coach Nick Saban, who won seven national championships, including six at Alabama. Cignetti was on Saban’s staff for the first of those six while serving as wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator.
