USC game. What did we learn

I believe that Raiola under a different coaching staff would have developed and improved over the course of the season. Unfortunately, having Raiola under the current coaching staff is like handing the keys to a Cadillac to someone who can’t drive. They will crash it a few times before they learn how to drive. The question is whether there will be anything left of the Cadillac by the time they learn how to drive. Satt was definitely a horrible driver. In Dana’s defense, he just got here and may be he can do something in last two games but that is asking a lot. I just have a nagging feeling that Raiola already made his mind to enter the transfer portal at the end of this season, especially if we end 5-7. His body language and the way he answers questions does not inspire confidence or urgency.

I'll give him props if he decides to stay here. Sadly, after watching NU for the past 22 games, what area have we improved? QB, on paper, without a doubt. But will our O-line play be better? RB's, WR's, TE's....D? Can our D improve where it matters? A lot of seniors leaving, but is that addition by subtraction next year?
I'm assuming OC and/or QB coach will have some impact. I know Dana is praised as OC, but is he a QB coach? Would his permanent hire have any bearing on the success or failure of DR related to his "development"? After 22 games, we still have 99 problems and they all are one. Not a good way to head into year 3.

Well i was in the stands and watched a team [ours] that probably should have won the game.
With any luck at all, which we don't seem to have much of this year, the one INT we all thought was ours, was dropped to a wide receiver laying on his back, in the end zone. The other INT our player had dead to rights, was bobbled as he tried to bring it into his body, and was grabbed by their wide receiver for a first down, instead of a punt from them coming up. Of course they ended up scoring a TD.
The USC fans in our area, also thought how lucky they were.
Had a fun time, wish we could have had a little luck, we would have had a win.
I think we beat Wis next week.

This is an oldie but a goodie. Still laughed today even though it’s out dated. Man we need a new one of these for our current huskers.

Has the weight room work ethic improved any under Rhule? Had heard it was lacking under previous staff.
Raiola was only pressured on 7 out of 43 drop-backs, despite USC blitzing 22 times. Reports of poor line play are greatly exaggerated (at least in the passing game).
That was Raiola's second-lowest rated game of the year (Rutgers).
Raiola was 1/7 throwing 20+ yards downfield. He was also only 1/3 from 10-20 yards. Tough to do much on offense when all you can do is run and throw short passes.
Thankfully EJ out-snapped Dowdell 48 to 15.
Lloyd had the longest catch on the day by a receiver, despite only playing 10 snaps. I thought he and Barney might see more snaps with Holgorsen in charge.
The OL was only charged with one hurry and no sacks. Again, people who claim the line is doing poorly don't know what they're looking at.

Not disagreeing just to disagree. Why do you think we have ran so many screen plays over the course of the season? Short passing routes? This is a mask for poor O-line play. Illinois game bring back some memory? 2nd half of Colorado game, which was the turning point for Colorado.
Do I think that Dylan is a lost cause? No. He is an upgrade from what we had, but I caution that my eyes tell me that he is no better than Adrian was as a freshmen. No better. Can't fairly judge off of that, but Adrian was never better from then on.
Dylan could be better if he gets the right coaching, or he could be just what he is, slow moving pocket passer who needs every tenth of a second to make confident throws. He is lacking confidence, thus the soft ball tosses he makes. Start of the season he was throwing a more on point ball with purpose. He now has resorted to throwing soft toss balls hoping to place it instead of just throwing in there.
I am sure right now that Dylan could enter the portal to test the water. I don't know if anyone will give him what he has here. Being reasonable here, but Dana hasn't produced to many NFL QB's in his stops. Not to mention he hasn't won too many games the longer he stays places either. His offense is not that wowing to me. Big 12 caught on relatively quickly. Big 10 will as well.

Can't remember which game you put that passing stats (I think USC), but were eerily similar for passes 10+. I think you had him at 1-10. That's horrible. And now this game 2-10 at 10+ yards...All we have is a crappy screen game with receivers who can't block or to Fidone who is like a semi making a 3 point turn. And a poor running game. Maddening. Hope we stick with EJ next week. TBH, I'd love to let him get 20-25 touches next week.

I’ll take blame if I speak a heisman performance into existence, but Wiscy QB is baaad. And if Pauling is out, there is no reason for the secondary to struggle. This should be a 2 score win.

This is why Longo was fired, and Wisky will run the ball all day, as they should have been doing all year. If anyone wins by multiple scores, it will be them. I will be absolutely shocked if we make a bowl.
