He had eight catches total last year so it wasn't as if we sat an All-American for two transfers. Do I think he would have helped this year? Yes, probably, but I wouldn't say he was screwed over unless you have insider knowledge. Rhule and the staff made a number of redshirting decisions with the future in mind. I don't think it was a bad call if the player would not have been ready to go for roughly half the season.Nope, not even a close comparison. Malachi got screwed over by this staff.
Saw this coming the moment Rhule said he was redshirting him.
I wonder if this is a testing the waters situation, see what programs come calling. I'd also be curious if this could be tied to seeing Holgorsen's coaching, attitude, etc. in contrast to how it's been with McGuire and Satt. That press conference was pretty revealing, the quip about 'you are big guys, why are you not blocking?' is pretty straightforward and some kids don't response well to that. Considering the biggest knocks on him coming out of high school were consistency with effort and attitude, it wouldn't surprise me if this could play a part.
