Yeah, if you can get a proven guy, take him, for sure.

It is easy to fall in love with measurables but falling in love with production will probably work better.

Agreed. We need to win now. Sure, you got to build for the future at the same time and get some prospects that can be developed, but we need people who can make a huge impact next year, not three years from now after Rhule gets fired because he doesn’t win more than six games again next year.

 
A little off topic and maybe too lazy to search on another thread....

If an athlete enters the portal that is on scholarship does the university have any obligation to offer it back if athlete decides it was not the best choice? I would imagine it can be a case by case issue and could look bad if you deny them to come back.

Guessing some of these guys that will enter over the coming days are being encouraged to enter/told there will not be a spot for them in the future with the roster limits coming.

AFAIK, once an athlete officially enters the portal, the university is under no obligation to take them back. Keep in mind that an athlete announcing they are entering the portal is not the same and the university is still under obligation until the athlete files the paperwork. For example, Emmett Johnson announced he was entering the portal but never did so.

Yes I said he would start but your making it seem like I said he was going to be a Dwight Freeney or something.  I just said that if he came here and who is on Nebraska's roster he would start.  If Nebraska had anybody on their roster they would have played.  Nebraska is not going to be in a better position to land someone at the de spot.  You want productivity at the de spot but how many productive de are out there.  Not many.

Portal just opened yesterday. There will be talent out there, we just need to recruit it hard and pay it well.

Not sure where you got that information. Their team sack leader was Johnny Walker and he played in every game totaling 7.5 tackles and 10.5 TFLs with 3 FF’s.

Not every 5-star is going to light the world on fire. Ironically he had the same amount of sacks as Princewell this season and a .5 sack more than Princewell last season.

Huge difference.  I will say if this kid enrolled in June and expected a bigger role it is a bit of a red flag, but this is a no brainer even if Rhule wasn't rebuilding this room from the ground up.  Jeudy actually walked on SR day, right now Lenhardt, Van Popple, & McGahee might be the only returning players with experience among those front 4.  I'll be interested to see if Ryan Wingo pops back up in play for NU as well.

Nwaneri played just 38 snaps for the Tigers in his true freshman season, appearing in only four games. Missouri suffered two-season ending injuries at edge rusher throughout the season, with Darris Smith during fall camp, and Joe Moore III ahead of Week 7. Nwaneri took 16 snaps in the first game without Moore, but that was also in a game against UMass where the Tigers led 24-3 at the half.

Missouri seemed to view Nwaneri as a long-term project. Developing players at that rate has become increasingly difficult with the mobility players now have available to them in the current age of college athletics.

 
Nebraska and Georgia are the 2 teams in the race to win Dane Key services.  I understand that Dane Key is a good wr but you would think that Georgia would be loaded with talent at that position.
