Who's Leaving? 2024/25 version

Seeing Jamari and Princewill leave underscores one major point for me: being a "good recruiter" and a "developer of talent" is almost obsolete as a skill set at this juncture.

You're just discovering & developing talent for another team to grab at season's end.

Which is good - the rest of our job markets behave this way. But if contracts don't become normalized (and fast), coaching this s*** is basically just like swinging at a piñata with a blindfold on.

Makes me feel bad for fans of G5 and FCS teams. Just brutal. I guess the only thing a coach at that level can do is just lean into it and say “come play for us and we will get you a showcase to get to the next level” which now means to a big program.

Makes me feel good for the players that finally can transfer like any other college kid...and they can make cash.

If I was a MAC coach or FCS coach that would be me selling point.

"Come play here at Kent State, give me 2 seasons, you will start 15+ games, you will workout in a college weight room, you will get great nutrition and learn how to be a college football player and then you can leave for a big pay day"

Another Fidone having a fit on Nebraska social media. I'm amazed Thomas hasn't either denounced his family or entered the portal

I will never blame a parent for sticking up for their kid.

I don’t know the context of this, but it looks extremely cringy.  What has been done to Fidone that his family needs to defend him?

and I say that and I find it cringy when our fans wish him to the portal.

The Shirley Fidone comments a few weeks ago just looked like a butthurt family member.  She got torched on Reddit.

There’s been a ton of rumors around Krause’s dad post stuff about his daughters playing time this season on the Volleyball team.

Not a good look.

Stuff like this makes me glad I didn't play in the time of social media.  But then I remember breaking down un-edited game film with my dad (the coach).  I got to hear first hand how bad a player I was and how bad the coach was.  I really felt bad for my mom because she was the videographer

So much this. I can only imagine how hard it is to hear criticism as a parent, even if they do whiff one.

The Shirley stuff I knew. And yikes, that was all on her. Maybe that’s just the way the family rolls.

I quit coaching my kids because I got tired of just 1-2 parents.  My kid was ok, not great.  One of the things I always heard is I’d make calls that favored my kid.  It simply wasn’t true.  It was lazy.  In fact, I felt like he was the only player on the team I could tear to shreds when he performed bad.  He got lit up way more than anyone else did.

It was great to be done.

Same here!  I loved coaching, but parents were horrible.
