And there’s the pointless rebuttal we’ve all become accustomed to!!!  Thanks for all you provide on this board- great to have an admin set a shining example as always. I should report this for violating the “pointless contribution” rule you’ve thrown penalties on in the past but we all know the emperor can do no wrong

This is a very good point.   Some years a QB will have 4-5 of those weird tip ball INT’s and/or strange jump ball happenings like this year where DR had at least 2 that I can remember, 50/50 possessions where the DB just ripped the ball away at the end.    Passes where the WR should have easily caught and retained possession.  DR may have none of those INT’s next year.   Combine that with more competent WR’s catching TD’s they should catch would immediately turn the TD/INT ratio around pretty quickly.

I'm trying to think of the really bad interceptions he threw. One in the UCLA game sticks out...

Pro Football Focus assigned him 12 "turnover worthy plays".  I believe that is trying to account for those bounces.  So plays where a good pass bounce off a receivers hands and get intercepted are not counted but the reverse - hitting a defender in the hands but he drops it - are counted.  I'm not sure if that includes fumbles or not but he had 12 turnover worthy plays and 11 interceptions so they basically equaled out - although he was perhaps a little lucky he didn't have more turnovers.

That one and the bowl game was one but he didn’t have too many just kinda brain fart INt’s I can think of.   And that’s pretty impressive for a true freshman IMO

And that the offense was terrible at WR/TE screens for much of the year which also helps account for a lower YPC or YPA

Because when you come in with all the hype they did, you better bring it big.  Or find a few that will only compare you to other freshman.
 

Maybe compare the five star to other five stars. Or by reported NIL$. Or by surface area of family members employed by the program. Or even to other QB’s, regardless of eligibility year. Or to points scored.
