Trump’s Accomplishments…at levels never seen before (2025 version)

So, the best solution is to cut and run when you're confronted with this problem.  Got it.

And...China is the cause of these problems...so let's stop the efforts to monitor them......interesting.
Literally no one is saying that, as you know.   Depending on WHO hasn’t been the solution as we have come to find out.

But again, what would have been different had HRC been President and kept the pandemic response team?   Would we not have been lied to from our own agencies about the origins of Covid?   That would have been a positive I guess.

Maybe we would have known earlier and the pandemic response team would have worked with China to contain it more.

And...noone is saying that.  On top of pulling away from WHO, we are also defunding and tearing apart NIH.  A logical person would think that if we are pulling away from the world stage, we would need to do more internally to keep us safe from diseases.  Guess maybe Trump is so smart he can just do it all himself.

We aren’t defunding and tearing apart NIH contrary to what the election denier Raskin is trying to convey.

get through some of the bluster and we find these gems…

The hiring freeze is governmentwide, whereas a pause on communications and travel appears to be limited to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), NIH’s parent agency. Such pauses are not unprecedented when a new administration comes in. But some NIH staff suggested these measures, which include pulling job ads and rescinding offers, are more extreme than any previously.

“This is a short pause to allow the new team to set up a process for review and prioritization,” an NIH spokesperson says.

Previous administrations have imposed communications pauses in their first days. And the administration of former President Barack Obama continued a cap on attendance at scientific meetings first imposed by former President George W. Bush’s administration, which in some cases meant staff canceled trips to meetings.

Maybe he will just write an EO that makes cancer, Alzheimers, and other horrible diseases go away.

It’s awesome  to see the “grocery prices weren’t a problem and inflation was only a problem for a little bit crowd” the last three years now ask for grocery prices to lower in a week😂

No one in that crowd asked for or expected grocery prices to lower in a week. You've got the teams wrong, here.

Also, no one expects people to put cute little Donald Trump "I Did That!" stickers on the gas pumps when prices spiked during the Trump administration, although perhaps we should start.

Lot of goal post moving going on, and that's your comfort zone. .

I didn’t expect nor claim prices at the grocery store would magically come down the first week or even the first month of a Trump Admin👍

So yeah, I guess goal posts are moving.   It just so happens to be you living them

Well this seems embarking for your side….

And how would the outcomes of Covid been different if HRC were President?   Covid would have magically skipped over us?  Covid would have hit but magically been not that bad.  The country would have shut down except for essential workers for a year instead of 6 weeks or so?

It wouldn't have been magic and it wouldn't have skipped over us. If you have to rely on ridiculous extremes it's a pointless discussion. In the early stages Trump generally listened and adhered to the same advice and policy Hillary would have been likely to follow. Clinton would have fast tracked the Covid vaccine much like Trump did. She probably wouldn't have uttered as many stupidities about science to the public, or encouraged as much misinformation as Trump. That probably cost a few lives, although the larger trajectory wouldn't have been altered much. In fairness to Biden, Trump, and every leader on Earth, Covid was a moving target and no one had a perfect game plan.

The bigger problem is that Donald Trump thinks he may have lost the election because of Covid, and although he originally wanted credit for fast-tracking the vaccine he found political power in demonizing vaccines, masks, Anthony Fauci and science itself. Back in power, Trump has everyone on his revenge check-list, ensuring that the next time science and sensibility is required, America will pursue the course of reactionary morons.

From the director of NIH himself.

At an event in Arizona just days before Trump picked him to lead the department, Kennedy said that, on Jan. 21, 600 people “are going to walk into offices at NIH and 600 people are going to leave,” NPR reported. (Nearly 20,000 people work at NIH.)

Aside from the layoffs, Kennedy has said he wants to shift NIH’s focus away from infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, toward chronic diseases like obesity. Last November, according to NBC News, Kennedy told an antivaccine group, “I’m gonna say to NIH scientists, ‘God bless you all. Thank you for public service. We’re going to give infectious disease a break for about eight years.’”

So...dismantle the pandemic response team, pull out of the WHO and drastically cut back on internal research on infectious diseases.  That sounds wonderful for preparing for the next pandemic.

Bird flu is laughing at us.

The President did.

“When I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on Day One,” he said at the time.

It was a pledge he repeated on the campaign trail, often followed by the phrase, “drill, baby, drill.” And to many voters, inflation was a justifiable target: Years of sharply rising prices had taken a toll on their hard-earned pay and their livelihoods.

But Day One has turned into Day Seven, and those eggs are getting even more expensive.

So, what has he done to bring food prices down?

I know people totally champion the "living wage" and I get it BUT this insane idea that high school kids that have great parents and live in a nice house and so on and so on...NEED 16 dollars an hour, yes that is what they are making here in Omaha.  It is INSANE!

Conversation I just had in class.

"So the country club is hiring for lifeguards"

"Yeah, we saw that but they are only going pay pay 13-15 dollars an hour, that is not enough"

Eggs are not expensive just because of a flu they are expensive because we got stupid with what we are paying people.

If you are a HS kid with a great family and tons of money at home, you don't need 16 dollars an hour.

With that said, If I was a HS kid I would also want 16 dollars an hour.  So I totally get it.

How many egg farm or factory employees are kids?

FYI...I agree with you on kids not needing $16 per hour.  But, if the people looking to hire them need to offer that to get them...well....

Also, some may have forgotten that Obama had a pandemic response team on the ground in China precisely because we didn't trust China. Would they have gotten us closer to the origins of the outbreak? Maybe. Would they have lied if they had proof it was a lab leak? Doubtful. Because that's why they were there and what they were monitoring before Trump sent them home.

Was it wrong for media sources to shout down anyone suggesting it was a lab leak (or possibly intentional) rather than the wet market theory? Yes. There were valid scientists raising valid questions who faced politically correct censure. The political correctness was an attempt to avoid anti-Asian retribution, which was a thing, but it shouldn't have interfered with legitimate science. Then again, when did we ever listen to legitimate science that disagreed with our gut?

At the end of the day, scientists are still split on the likelihood of Covid origins, so neither side is advancing a lie, just a hypothesis. But if you Google the subject today, you'll find a fresh headline declaring that the CIA has declared a China lab leak to be the likely cause of Covid. Careful readers will note this declaration was issued during the first days in office by new CIA chief John Ratcliff at Trump's behest, using an old CIA study that ranked its own finding "low confidence" for insufficient, inconclusive, or contradictory evidence.

Insane take when inflation has outpaced wages exponentially for decades. Maybe instead of saying it's stupid to pay people 16 dollars an hour we focus the blame on execs and shareholders who are getting exponentially more wealthy while squeezing the little guy more and more.
