Who is the next coach?

There is this super connected poster on the Illini site and he just posted this

Hoiberg is not safe in Lincoln …

They’re gonna see if they can upgrade and who’d be interested and if they can get a commitment from the guy they want, I think they’ll pull the trigger …

Anyone thinking Fred should be fired is not rooted in reality.  Fred should be allowed to coach here as long as he wants, assuming continued ethical behavior.  Historical performance is absolutely in play here, and this is remains a very difficult job despite the fancy arena.

Josh Schertz & Alan Huss are the names that I’ve heard Nebraska would potentially be interested in …

Hoiberg has a decent size buyout from what I’m told from that extension last March … They could probably make it work if they wanted to though …

Basketball attendance is misleading.  They announce tickets sold, not tickets scanned.  Early in the season when they are playing some random SWAC team, they have 5-6k in the building but the announced attendance is always 12-13k.

Everybody, everywhere counts attendance by tickets sold.

You are right that certain games or certain schools have different sized gaps between tickets sold and actual butts in the seats.

The players don’t come, sir…relax 😆 

Not the fans…I’d never say a disparaging remark towards our fan base.  Butts in seats matter to the bottom line and our nostalgia and such…but Cooper Flagg type guys aren’t coming here because we were 15th in attendance in the country in basketball 😆

That's the whole (men's) Nebraska Basketball dynamic in one sentence;  not much in analysis needed.  We uncork a bit over a dozen wins per year (12, 15, 17) and pretty much fill the arena no matter losing streaks.  Big Red Hotdogs.  Crappy ice cream.  Warmed pizza.  Etc.  We'll be there.  We might get somebody worse, but we likely won't get somebody better.  FH takes it all pretty close to the heart, but honestly, should we?

I do enjoy when Red Panda comes for halftime.  I also saw a guy win a Porsche.
