Could be.  They pretty much lose everything (like the Huskers) this year.  It will depend on how much they can bring in through the portal.

Word is that both Ashworth & Kalkbrenner had seven figure NIL deals, so they will have plenty of money to spend in the portal if they spread it around.  It's also basically the only sport Creighton and their fans give a darn about so they will throw money around to get what they want.  It will be a matter of the team coming together and how the complementary pieces fit.  Rutgers learned how important complementary pieces can be this year.

They had to pay big to keep kalk, it would have been embarrassing to let him leave and then later on retire his jersey.  I don't think they will pony up that much for anyone again.  Ashworth blows, that was not money well spent.  

Greggggg is like 61 or something, so he might chase that IU bag for a 6 year 30 million dollar deal now that about 6 coaches have told them no.

I know they reached out to him in their last search.

Wouldn't have minded having Ashworth instead of the two point guards Nebraska had.  Good enough ball handler & he can shoot.

May be Kalkbrenner's last seven figure compensation package.  He's not a very good on ball defender (he is really good off the ball at rim protection) & will get pushed around at the next level unless he goes to a mid-level league in Europe where he won't get paid seven figures.

A few more details in the USA Today story.  Apparently, they announced his firing at 2:19 AM.  Also have the lowest men's basketball budget in the B1G and pretty low NIL money that was mostly raised by Johnson & his staff.  Good luck finding a coach when you treat the previous one so poorly.

Yeah it was not a smart move....They want that Medved guy?  I think that is his name.

But they just don't have money or they pretend like they don't.  Maybe they spend it all on boats for PJ
