Economy

Look at the chart, not the misleading headline.

Do you see anywhere on the chart that inflation is lower than 2.3%? Lowest since 2021 my a$$.

Also do you see when and where it jumped way up? I wonder who is responsible for that.

But hey, yeah, I’m glad it seems to be cooling off…for now. I guess backing down on misguided tariffs might have some effect.

I guess I can't imagine not checking accounts.  It takes like 10 seconds and it is on my phone and computer so it makes it super easy.

Yeah, I get it.  It's kinda fun. But at that point it's more gambling than investing. If a good quarterly earning report spikes the price on Tuesday, and a potential war sends it crashing on Wednesday, what's the point?

I'm also reminded of the two day traders I knew who monitored the market constantly -- because they were day trading. Things didn't work out well for them.

Ahhhh, I get it.  Yeah, I don't trade everyday.  I trade more because trading is free, thank you Robinhood, for literally changing the industry.

Before free trading, I might have made one trade every two months.  If that.

My bad. I could’ve swore there were no dates prior to 2024 on this chart when I made my post. So the headline is accurate.

This is going to hurt rural and urban communities the most. Nobody with the means willingly chooses to shop at Walmart. Go to Aldi's if you have the ability and wish to save bunches without the "People of Walmart" type crowd.

Tariffs are stupid.

There's an Aldi's moving into the strip mall by our house. I'm not excited for the riff raff.

8 frozen ahi Tuna steaks

Gala Apples x2 bags

Protein Pasta

3 containers of Greek yogurt

Like I said...

But seriously there's a Meijer (Great Lakes region's Hy-Vee) and a Walmart within a quarter mile, and in between that will be an Aldi's. I'll be interested to see what kind of people shop at Aldi's because the difference between Walmart and Meijer is crazy. I still remember in college going to the Walmart on N 27th to people watch at night. s#!t was wild!

The ones by me in Eastern Kansas seem to be more of the following:

Hippies/Nature types

Single young 20s guys/gals

Old people

Normal looking folks (as opposed to Walmart)

I suppose I am more of the second option. Hyvee wants gold for their food.

Yes good bargains there and they have some specialty coffees, gluten free, antibiotic free items  that are pretty good.  Remember they are owned by the same company that owns Trader Joes and seems like everyone likes Trader Joes.

Around here we've got more a Italian markets than you can shake a fist at, also Fresh Thyme, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods. That covers the organic hippy crowd. But they do have significantly better produce so I shop there quite often as a middle class dad bod lame-o. Never really been impressed with Aldi's. The produce always seems to be in the process of rotting.

I am far too cheap for that but I respect the game.

Gotta be selective. I'm a cheapskate, but the difference in things like cilantro, other herbs, and tomatoes is significant! I only buys those at regular grocers if I'm in a pinch, because they're so bland.

But my wife and I like walk into whole foods and laugh at people buying 10 dollars cherries.
