This is so sad.

Yes it is extremely sad that this child didn’t get a chance at life because his dad was a criminal moron.

It pisses me off to no end whenever I see a dog alone in a car in this heat. I have called the cops twice for this, once for a baby/child and the other for a dog. They need to take these people out and light them on fire. You either know better and are a criminal or you don’t know better and are too stupid to be sharing our air.

I think of this every time I see the "you have something in the backseat" indicator in my car. In the late 1980s or early 1990s, there was talk of having potential parents take a quiz or something similar to become a parent. I thought it was stupid. But every once in a while....

Problem is, if potential parents had to actually pass that quiz, our species would cease to exist. But it would take quite a few generations so it might be worth it based on current trajectory.

I am trying to think of the "stupidest" things I know my parents did...

My mom did leave me in a running car when she ran back inside to grab something and I guess I put the car into gear and it rolled into the garage door.

I got lost at a store once or twice but that was probably at least half my fault.

But in all seriousness, I know it is unimaginable for anyone to understand how something like this can happen. But it does from time to time. A grandparent may be helping out and be forgetful. Or what happened in our area, a dad that is super stressed and may not normally drop the baby off, forgets the sleeping baby after dropping off the older kids at school.

I know it sounds like I’m making an excuse, but there is a difference between gross negligence and malice. It super sad and a reminder to all of us to slow down.

A friend was telling me, he has two kids, one day he was taking them to school and went to the high school first. The youngest kid said "What are you doing?" the Dad said "What do you mean?" and his kid said "So and so doesn't have school today, she isn't even in the car"

That’s chilling. I blame smart phones and that we are all readily assessable and constantly distracted. Phones really deteriorate our need to memorize or pay attention to anything other than them.

My husband sets alarms all day to remind him to do really simple things. Kind of scary. I’m going to be pureeing his food soon I feel.

My worst nightmare is leaving the kid in the hot car. Being tired and stressed from work makes your brain mush and you do dump stuff. Like drive on autopilot to work instead of drop off or whatever.
