2025 Single-Digit Numbers

For reference, returners from last year:

#1 - Vincent Shavers
#3 - Marques Buford
#7 - Malcolm Hartzog
#8 - DeShon Singleton

So #0 (Nash), #2 (Gifford), #4 (Banks) and #9 (Ty) are available.

Word is Raiola will take one of them. And perhaps there will be some switching.

Wait... are you saying the returning players retain their single digit number for this year? Are the 0-9 numbers not voted on fresh each season?

I'm not big on new coaches who come into a program and start instituting new traditions, if that's what the 0-9 jersey numbers can be called, but I like this one. Doubly cool to be a Blackshirt as well as a single digit guy.

I don't really know if the actual procedure has actually been announced. I'm just assuming it's likely that guys that had one last year will have one again this year.

I think it will be good for Dylan to get out from under the Mahomes shadow a bit. Get your own number and become your own brand/image.

Everybody who had a single digit in 2023 and returned last year (Hutmacher, Gifford, Bullock, Singleton, Robinson) kept their number, and the guys who had them last year have been practicing with their single digits this year. So it's safe to say they carry over. Would think given his 'V9' nickname Shavers may switch to 9, and IIRC Raiola was #1 in high school until that number was taken so that would be my bet for him.

Shavers didn't earn a single digit at the beginning of the year. He switched numbers with Jamari Butler who had 1 and then switched to 10. So unless he was voted as single digit I don't know what's going to happen with him.

I don't know for sure, but I would guess they had a vote when Butler gave his number up and Shavers won. It would be contrary to the whole process to just have the coaches award it to someone at any point.
