Scott Frost's downfall

More from Callahan today:

Nebraska...the continued posts people make about Scott Frost's personal life and family. It's really ugly, especially when anyone who knows Frost will tell you he is the furthest thing from a drinker. To this day, I've yet to meet one person with a first-person account of anything, just a lot of third/fourth-hand stuff. There's a reason why nothing has ever been published, becasue there is nothing that ever has been verified. Again, he didn't win games here and should've been let go, but the attacks people still make at him and his family are just gross.

Perhaps the people that started rumors and continued to push those rumors should post and apologize?

Doing all you can (not you) to ruin a persons life and name is probably not something that those people should just "move on from" when they find out they were wrong.

But for real, some people were/are still holding a grudge cuz he went to Stanford initially. You think they're going to back off now?

No, I don't, sadly.

They will keep piling on and keep telling fake stories that they heard from a friend of a friend who knows a guy...

They did the same exact thing to Bo.

He wasn't ready. He/we thought he was. The lights were too bright and the stage was too big. Throw in an inexperienced staff, mediocre roster, an absent AD and it was a recipe for disaster. After year 2, I was ready to part ways. Hard to fire the prodigal son. I mean who wanted to be that guy...

Pretty much sums it up. Hopefully no hard feelings in the end by our fan base. Honestly wish him the best of luck.

Throw in an inexperienced staff,
In my opinion, I think this was Frost’s biggest mistake leading to his lack of success. He needed to bring in 2 established Coordinators, one of which ideally would have had P5 head coaching experience. It would also have been prudent to turn over some of his position coaches he had at UFC and instead bring in experience.

This is obviously all hindsight, but many people were also questioning him bringing the entire staff at the time it happened.

Never heard if this was confirmed, but there was the rumor UF wanted Frost and not his staff. Allegedlt that's why NU got him. We let him bring everyone. I think he followed in the footsteps of Cally and Riley in letting loyalty doom your career. This is one huge thing I give Rhule credit for. Dude is making changes and not AFTER his seat got hot. Doing to avoid that. Hoping it pays off!!! We will see on Thurs. GBR

The issue is, it is really hard to fire/not bring some of your staff when you are close with them AND just went undefeated with them.

I am sure in hindsight he wishes he could have made changes though.
