****Michigan Game Day Thread****

If not for that 75 yd td whiff, we were right there to win. We played like a top25 team, but just weren’t good enough in the trenches. DR still put up better numbers than most teams will against Mich. I hate Mich more than anything, except Iowa.
5 sacks ain’t gonna win us games, Oline needs to do so much better

I had two loses this season. This one (I wanted to keep it close) and Penn State. We will see they showed some fight. I’ll give em that. But the o line. Good gawd. And missed tackles. We have some improvement to make. No doubt. But this was a blowout a couple years ago.

To be completely honest, I really think that our issue is more coaching than players. Our guys are playing hard but coaches made some bad decisions. Game would be at least tied if we scored on our first drive. And won if we scored on the second drive.
There are a lot of IFS in your paragraph. You know the biggest word in the dictionary is if

maybe we should have kicked that first field goal

I said that at the time. I'm usually a fan of going for it inside the five, but that was a long couple yards and I wanted to get on the board first.

Of course, I didn't like the second down call either.

Interestingly enough, the last time Michigan played in Lincoln the same thing happened (went for it on goal-to-go early in the game and didn't get it), and it bit us then as well.

We all knew that the first two drives with missed opportunities would be the difference in the game and they were. Even if we scored two field goals, we win 33-30. Rhule needs to take a page from Ferentz. May be take a course and I will pay for it. You don’t have to be a genius to know that when you are playing against a superior team, you take any points given. There was absolutely no reason to go for it that early in the game. Rhule keeps making the same mistakes time and time again. Coaching was as responsible for this loss as poor tackling and Raiola’s refusal to get rid of the damn ball when the pocket collapses

I picked Michigan to win. I still believe our O-line is not good enough to win. I did not expect our defense to give up those big plays.
We are over-hyped this year. I cannot see getting 9 wins this year. I hope we will get to a bowl game.

Our offense is not reliable to get first downs running the ball. The line is just inconsistent.
The defense line is pretty bad at tackling- taking the wrong angle by reacting to movements rather than the ball, bad at tackling one on one in space and poor technique. They keep tackling high and give up 3 yards after contact.

This is not a great team. Raiola is good and we have better receivers than we have had in awhile. Our runners could be good but not with this O-line.

I dunno. It’s almost the same. Missed tackles. out of position on 2 major run plays that go for 6. Kinda the same. We had a couple of good plays out there as well. Some of the blitz calls were spot on. Feels the same as last year
We are missing 600+ lbs in Ty and Nash. We have no one on the DL that demands or commands a double team. That hurts.

Raiola was terrible

Until this O-line can get outside to seal the end, we will never be able to run wide. If you can’t run wide, the center gets jammed by too many defenders in the box and the rush ends crashing down on the QB.
The Michigan tackles pushed our I-line around and down almost every play. The starting O-line should be benched to give next year’s linemen more experience.
