Almost as if we "ran ourselves" right out of the play. Hope they figure it out. I feel (maybe I am wrong) we are building up UM to be some juggernaut to ease the loss and embarrassment of being owned in the trenches. Thinking of "best DL we will see all year". I applaud Rhule acknowledging this. Maybe it's scheme, blown assignments, new DC or missing Ty and Nash and no one to replace them.....Hate this as Rhule in 2023, knew he'd have them for 2 years tops and NLT than 2025 need run stoppers.Rhule basically said what they've been doing with DL stunts hasn't been working.
Sure seemed to me that it hurt more than it helped against Michigan.
Unless Michigan is back to stealing signs I think they got pretty lucky on some calls that just worked out really well for what defense we had called. That and just guys not making a play when we needed it. I can remember at least twice the D had a stunt and the lineman who was suppose to perform the stunt got too wide and went to the wrong gap. One of those was because the end was being abused and they ended being blocked by the same guy and the RB ran past them both.Rhule basically said what they've been doing with DL stunts hasn't been working.
