'I Know Nebraska Wants to Run the Ball, So Do I': Holgorsen Talks RB Depth, More Ahead of Michigan State

"And so do I. Just not very much." -full quote, probably.

The only time he's had offenses that significantly run the ball is the couple of years that he's had a running threat at QB. Don't hold your breath.

Si.com articles all read like an 8th grader wrote them.

Keep in mind that this is On SI, which is what used to be called FanSided. I think they're sort of a franchise model for team-centric sites, which operate largely independently of SI's national coverage. The entire writing staff of Sports Illustrated itself was fired a couple years ago, although they were sold not too long ago and I think they do have some writers again.

I assume you’re paraphrasing Hogo here. I’ve never identified him as a power run game type OC.
Getting into the meat of fall weather in the B1G remains to be seen what he has in store. WV wasn’t much different climate than what we’re going to see going forward.
Guy grew up in IA so it’s not like he’s a west coast roots type of guy. Dude was killing it at osu with the right qb, we got that here now. All that to say I’m optimistic aside from our lack of run game ypc

The quote from the thread title ended with "And so do I." I added my own version of what is probably more likely the case.

He was the OC at Texas Tech from 2007 to 2009. They were #111, #86 and #120 (dead fricken' last) in rushing yards per game.
He was the OC at Oklahoma State in 2010. They were #36. He inherited an offense that was #22 the year before.
He was the HC at West Virginia from 2011 to 2018. They were #88, #47, #81, #49, #15, #25, #82 and #84. In 2015 (#15), their QB ran for 500 yards. And nearly 500 the next year (#25).
He was the HC at Houston from 2019 to 2023. They were #67, #51, #57, #21 and #80. In 2022 (#21), their QB ran for 500 yards and was the leading rusher on the team.

None of those were against B1G defenses.

I'm not saying he's not a good coordinator. He just has not shown the ability to scheme up a running back run game very much.

Dam, those numbers are all over the place, not in a good way insofar as the power run game. Props on researching that data. We’re falling in line with the trend so far. Interesting to see what happens tomorrow with the typical B1G weather

He said the same quote about "we are balanced" in that multiple guys are getting touches as Rhule. IMHO, thats more of a distribution analysis as opposed to balanced in pass vs run......I know the short passing game is an "extension of the run game", but if teams shut down our passing game, what do we do. Because we can't run..... Tiger doesn't change his stripes...Chatgpt does confirm your post. Dana's best years rushing was with a mobile QB or an elite RB. We have neither. Mich St will be a good test.

What I have seen of Ives, I like.
Would like to see him get more playing time. Why he is not playing more, I'm not sure. Haven't seen enough of his carrying the ball, or blocking. I think he is the answer for the #2 rb spot.

GBR!!!
