UCLA- What Did We Learn

I learned that there's a huge tailgate party north of the Rose Bowl on the golf course. It's different from the huge tailgate party on the south side where we bummed some food from nice Husker fans and polite Bruin fans. The north side tailgate had THOUSANDS of UCLA students partying in tents, with a roughly 60:40 female ratio that my Cal Poly son and has buddy -- all of us in Husker colors -- really appreciated.

Hopefully he goes to the real Cal Poly and is not a Pomona wannabe! Go Stangs!

I thought Nebraska should have assigned a spy on Iamaleava Saturday after his broken play running became UCLA's best weapon. But of course there's a risk when you make one of your linebackers a spy and he has to stay in position while a running back or tight end goes across the middle uncovered. There was one of those plays in the NFL Sunday where a spy got burned for a TD. DC isn't an easy job, especially given today's offenses.

Schemes aside, I think the Husker defense has shown consistently solid tackling and technique.

Spys are great if Lavonte David is the spy. Spys are not great if you have someone that can’t athletically match the QB or someone that lacks in open field 1:1 tackling.

According to this we have a top 20 OL in running the ball. This blows up a lot of narratives...
Early in the season, they didn't pass the eye test but lately they have played pretty damn well. That would seem to be coaching impact so maybe that blows up even more narratives.

#48 is a game changer in the short running game. Watching him on WHAM plays compared to Haarberg shows what a blocking first FB can do. It was really fun to see him play a more traditional FB in the I formation against UCLA.

Do I look like a man who would let his son go to Pomona?
Hey now, I live a few years in the midland empire off route 66 and only 5 or 7 miles from Pomona in the late 80s early 90s.

Pomona was in our district. Used to play hoops during the day at Caly-Poly Pomona, play baseball and tennis at night during the summers. That was when In-and-Out was a a cheap walk-up shack, the area had crips and bloods, gang-bangers, and hot ACE cheerleaders. Plus my tutor was so fine. 🥰🥰 Haven't thought about those days in forever.

Enjoyed being there and so glad to move back to Texas.

Honestly, I don't know anything about Pomona. I just wanted Pigfarmer to respect me.
