Way overhyped hard. He’s not talentless but I think Sark may encourage him to get on down to the portal/draft this off season. Quite a few 5* kids on that roster were sold a bill of goods that turned out to be shite instead

College football is so f’ing hard. Just go live your life.
Every single man that has ever played football at any level has at one point been told that they won’t play anymore.

Whether that happens when you’re 12 or 17 or 22. Every single one of us has hung up the cleats and put the helmet on a hook.
If you’re one of the 1% that can touch an NFL grass field for a few years or have a nice career as a pro, it still comes to an end.
For this kid, his expectations were way too high. Texass always sucks, will never be what they think they are.
He tried hard, but it’s obvious he wasn’t meant for that type of environment.

Next question…is DR the man for us with all of our expectations and microscope?

I don't think he has what it takes to get us to the playoffs. He's not mobile enough or a fast thinker (or he's overthinking out there). Great passer in some respects - which can win prizes at the state fair or work for the NFL if the team has a great line, but we need more mobility in college.

Years ago, there was a highly recruited QB out of Tulsa Union HS - we watched several of his games at 6A Union. He was Player of the Year in Oklahoma his senior year. He signed with OU. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned and he didn't play that well for OU. He later transferred to a smaller college - Murray State where he excelled. Sometimes it is the environment and the expectations of the environment and not the talent that leads to an unproductive experience for some of these guys. Arch has the Manning name expectations which is out of this world as well as the UT expectations which are unrealistic to live up to.

Fuente attended Union High School in Tulsa and played football as a quarterback, where he threw for 6,104 yards and 65 touchdowns. In 1994, his senior season he led the state in both passing yards (2,934) and touchdown passes Statewide recognition followed, with the Tulsa World naming him "Player of the Year" and The Oklahoman "All-State Offensive Player of the Year.". Several schools recruited Fuente, including Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tulsa and Texas A&M, but he ultimately signed with Oklahoma under coach Howard Schnellenberger in February 1995.

Fuente entered the 1997 season as the starting quarterback, but started only five games, winning two and losing three. Following the season, he transferred to Division I-AA Murray State University where he would be able to compete in the 1998 season. Fuente amassed 2,289 yards with the Sooners.

At Murray State, Fuente was named the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year and a finalist for the Walter Payton Award following the 1999 season. He still holds several single-season records at Murray State for a quarterback including: most pass completions (240), highest pass efficiency (151.21), most passing yards (3,497), and most touchdown passes

Texas is a tough place to play. I think Arch has the skills. He should go to a smaller school and rebuild himself. After all, he was anointed Heisman winner and the first draft pick before the season. His first game was against OSU. One tough D. The pressure started right away.
