Butler isn't the problem.

We just don't have a P4 DL. They are small. They aren't athletic. They have the rare ability to be simultaneously terrible against the run and not generate a pass rush.

A good DC would have brought over players from his prior team or found a way to get some other portal guys. Rhule settled with Butler.

His NFL mentality of stopping the pass first is a problem. Yes the DLine is bad, but a ton of college coordinators make up for the same deficiency and are competent against the run.

So much this. WE don't have Vanilla Gorilla. Then scheme something else. It's not that difficult. He's scheming like we do and has no answers. I'd look at the entire D staff. Poor angles, tackling etc...Have we improved at any position on D?
