Raiola to transfer to Oregon?

The real dicey part is if this rumor gets legs while other teams are circling around TJ Lateef, and NU will have to decide if they should make a preemptive promise to Lateef that he will start next season in order to hold at least one of them.

It would be terrifically exciting if Lateef finishes strong, but it would also make this scenario more plausible.

Other athletes have rebranded their social media feeds like Raiola, usually as leverage for contract negotiations, often staying put when they get a better deal. Weird to think that's happening in college football. The NFL is proving that the second most valuable player on any team is the back up quarterback, but in the NCAA being a back up makes you a sucker.
Ehh. I get the sense that Rhule will have very honest conversations about the way he expects spring to go if they're both around and let them make the best decision for them. That will likely come with a "it will be a competition but we see "X" being the guy going into that" plan.

CBS Sports has article out now that Nebraska facing that he might be leaving. Allegedly reach out to Dom who declined to comment…..

I could be wrong, but I don't think there's been any new information. Raiola is going to evaluate his options each year, as will Lateef and every other QB who isn't entrenched as the starter on a playoff team. It would be irresponsible of the staff to ignore that and be totally unprepared for a departure, and since there hasn't been a definitive statement either way it's an easy headline. The odds are still either Raiola or Lateef enters the portal, that's just how it is for QBs right now.

Now that the CBS/247 article is out there...

So a friend of mine "knows a guy". He tends to get more things right than wrong, but definitely isn't batting 1.000.

My friend texted over the weekend that he was told that Dom is shopping Dylan (and Dayton) around. They are focusing on Adidas schools since Dylan has a NIL directly with Adidas and wants to keep that. Also the Raiola's know the writing is on the wall with Donnie and he will most likely not be returning next year.

While Raiola has better pure arm talent than TJ, he just won’t cut it here with how our line plays and his lack of mobility. Our OL does a decent job on rollouts and bootlegs, and with a dual threat like TJ, they even give enough time in the pocket before a scramble is needed. With a full offseason of building around TJ, I feel Holgo will unlock more of what he wants to do and call and this will help with TJ being “the guy.” This also helps us focus on the type of players we need in the portal.

You have to wonder though… which players would leave with Raiola (whether or not his decision impacts them)? I’ll start…
- Barney: hasn’t been used as the gadget guy like he was last year, still a great returner but he can do that anywhere, needs more touches on offense
- EJ?: even without Raiola moving I think he goes pro but without the senior walk I’m more interested in his decision
- Carter Nelson: lack of TE usage and progression in his career makes me think he’s at least thinking about it

Totally possible that he has a foot out the door already, but wouldn't they be doing this even if he was 100% committed to coming back? Why wouldn't you figure out what other teams are willing to pay before meeting with the Nebraska staff to talk about next year?

I think Sipple and those guys were talking about there being a less than 50% chance he returns yesterday. If he leaves so be it. Go with the guys who want to be here

I assume what you are referring to is they were asked that question in their message board chat and the person who posed the question said "the answer can't be 50%." So they said 49%. But the way I read it is it was more just "we have no idea so we're basically saying 50/50."
