2025 College Football Playoff Rankings

ND is pissed that the ACC lobbied against them. Guess what, you aren't in their conference as a FB member. You can't have it both ways anymore. Either join a conference or stop complaining about things you have no desire to change.
 
Hey, moron, maybe if you actually joined the ACC for football they'd support you more in football. If you decide that you don't need to be in a conference, then you've decided that you don't need the support of a conference.

Yeah let's not mention a last minute FG lost to Miami (playoff team) and last minute lost to A&M (playoff team).

Let's also ignore how Boise State was in the playoffs just last year.

Let's ignore Beating USC pretty convincingly as well. USC was 6-0 and ranked in top 25 going into the game against ND. USC had just beaten Michigan fairly easily.

A game at Arkansas means SEC SEC SEC. Doesn't SEC matter? Most SEC fans think so (and ESPN).

Syracuse was 10-3 last year This year they were 3-1 after beating ACC champion Clemson..... but their starting QB was injured and lost for the year before playing ND. Then their team fell off a cliff. Let's ignore all of that.

Pittsburgh was ranked in the top 25 at 7-2 when they played ND. Let's ignore that as well.

Navy was 7-1 when they played ND. Navy is now 9-2. Navy also beat OU in bowl game last year. Again, let's ignore that.

So basically...... playing 11-1 A&M,... 10-2 Miami... 9-3 USC... 9-2 Navy... 9-4 Boise State... 8-4 Pittsburgh... 7-5 NC State.... and on the road against an SEC team is a weak schedule. A schedule put together before the season. But people flip the narrative. Got it.

Last year doesn't matter, especially in 2025 with the transfer portal. These teams are what their record says, no need to spin a narrative to make them better than they are either. They lost to the two best teams on that schedule. They did have some solid wins, but the point was that it is absurd to say "most dominant 10 games in CFB history". I mean, Ohio State beat 6 top 10 teams in a 10 game stretch just last season, wasn't that a little better than what ND did beating 2-10 teams repeatedly? :ROFLMAO:

The playoff should be expanded IMO, but the rules are the rules this year with JMU getting in as a conference champ. Their AD has lost his damn mind though. He has taken his response much too far, and the opt out was really weak, and they are being justly ridiculed because of it.

There is definitely a case for ND being in the playoffs, I get it. But dude, shut the hell up already. The AD has made his point, numerous times, and is just coming off as a whiner now. I personally am really enjoying that ND's arrogance about not joining a conference has finally come back to bite them. But don't worry ND, there's a ridiculous clause in the playoff system starting next year that, as long as you are ranked in the top 12, you get an automatic bid. What a joke. I'm really, really hoping that the come in at #13 next year; can you imagine the level of freakout at that point?

And I agree, opting out of a bowl game is such weak crap, way to take your ball and go home ND. Yeesh.
 
There's way too much money being made to ever go down, but IMO 8 is the right number. Higher seeds still get an advantage but no byes, and this year that would make a field of all undefeated or one loss teams. Some years everyone loses and teams with 2 losses make sense, but I don't even like the idea of 3-loss teams having a shot. I want the season to matter, I don't want it to be just the SEC/Big Ten team that gets hot at the end of the year.

Brett is trolling, but you're unnecessarily taking him literally.

Yes, they played some good teams, had a great season, and have a great argument for being deserving of a playoff spot. But one of the most dominant 10 game runs in college football history? Please.

There were two teams in the top 25 at the time of playing, one top 20 by current rankings. Compared that to 95 Nebraska with four top 10 teams included winning by an average of 40, or 2011 LSU beating #2, #3, #12, #17, #19 in a 10 game run, or 2024 Ohio State who beat #1, #3, #3, #5, #7 in a 10 game run, or 2019 LSU who beat #3, #3, #4, #4, #7 and #9 in a 10 game run, or countless others.
 
Fellas I am completely fine that ND did not make the playoffs, even though I feel like they are playoff caliber team (1st round). Just had to vent a little steam towards the jokes. However, I completely agree the AD is nuts for what he said, and the team not going to a bowl because of the playoff snub is not want team sports and sportsmanship is about. It's ridiculous. And now the rumor of their coach possibly going to NY Giants as the head coach and leaving ND.... It's crazy.

Hypothetically, this would have been a great year to have 4 teams play the week before the CFP begin as a "Play-In" games to determine the 11th and 12th seed. Those 2 winning teams would play on the road against Oregon & Ole Miss (the 5th and 6th seeds). It would look something like this.....

10-2 Utah at 10-2 ND
10-2 Vandy at 11-2 BYU

The G5 teams should have their own 4 team playoff separately for a G5 Champion. Gives them some pride and a championship. Plus they could play their first round on Thursday & Friday nights (viewers plus home games) and the G5 Championship Game the following Saturday Night (neutral field - plaid a few days before the Monday night CFP Championship Game).

That playoff would look something like this (4 team old school):

UNLV 10-3 at Tulane 11-2
North Texas 11-2 at JMU 12-1

There would nothing wrong doing something new and different like having a National Champion and a G5 National Champion (separate of course) at the end of the year.

I love the idea of splitting P4 and G5 yes. Personally I'd still do 16 team playoffs in each, but same idea!

My top reason is that ND had 2 disappointments to begin and 10 dominant wins to end. Bama started with a disappointment, and ended with five or six more disappointments. A win can be a disappointment for these purposes when they are hanging on for dear life or staging a late fourth quarter comeback against a fringe .500 opponent with an interim head coach.

I'll spare you the same old on the ACC.

I agree that Alabama should have been left out but ND 10 game run wasn't exactly against a great schedule. In the end I really believe they are being punished a bit for not being in a conference. It sounds like there may be more of that on the horizon with teams stating they aren't going to schedule them since they get a free pass into the playoff under certain circumstances. I personally love that... ND needs to be in a conference if it wants to compete against other conference teams in a playoff.
