Nebraska is off to its best start in program history after Saturday's win at Illinois, the Cornhuskers' first victory in a ranked vs. ranked matchup since 1991, per ESPN Research. While Pryce Sandfort's 32-point performance -- more specifically, his 15 straight points to start the game and 26 in the first half -- drew headlines, it mostly highlighted the fantastic season he's been having through 11 games. After hitting 20 points just once in his two seasons at Iowa, Sandfort has scored at least 20 in five games. He has also doubled his previous career-high average in assists (1.3 to 2.7).

Next seven days: vs. North Dakota (Dec. 21)

On most nights in conference, we will have to play better def and/or shoot better than we did on Sunday. We are no longer going to suprise teams.
Like we did against Wisconsin and Illinois? I mean, we had a let down half against ND, but it isn't like this team hasn't shown they are plenty capable of bringing it at a high level against conference opponents.

The rest of the season is going to get really interesting. Are they going to continue to go on this great run? There is no way they are going undefeated.....right??? So, my big question is, how does the team react to the first loss? That might depend on if it's a bad loss or a close game at the end with a team like Michigan. Right now, you can tell the team is flying on emotions and energy from the excitement of being undefeated. Fred has to keep that in the team even after a loss.

I'm also interested in seeing what happens to them in the rankings after that first loss. It has seemed like a lot of voters have resisted for a long time in believing in them. But, now they are being pretty hard to ignore. So...after a loss, are a lot of voters going to say....see....they aren't as good as some thought? Meanwhile, there will still be teams with losses ranked above them.

The ND game was right after finals week. Lots of times it's expected the team might come out flat after that. I'm pretty sure it's why the schedule teams like ND and New Hampshire at this time in the season. Hopefully, they come out against NH and light it up like they have earlier in the year and get right back on track.

Agreed, but we were hunting & now we are the hunted. We are not going to suprise anyone.

It isn't like Illinois didn't know we were undefeated and on the longest winning streak in the nation. I get your point but in this conference anyone can beat anyone on a given day (except maybe Michigan). Teams show up to play every day but maybe they will have a little more juice against an Undefeated Nebraska team.

How voters react will depend on who they lose to where the game is played and by how much. If they get blown out by Michigan State at home, the voters who resisted will feel justified and drop them quickly. If they lose close at Ohio State or Indiana on the road (next two games after MSU), the reaction might be mixed. If they manage to stay undefeated until they play at Michigan (1/27) and lose close, they might actually get some credit for a close loss to a team that many think is the best in the country. I don't think getting blown out at Michigan will hurt them much - Michigan has blown out everyone for the last month.
