Huskers to Face Utah in the Las Vegas Bowl

As opposed to a loss helping so much more? What are you on?
I understand but Im saying he probably asked the team to stick together and after the bowl win you will see all the transfers announce. You missed the context of the conversation. I know the coach wants to win 8 games so he is going to try to keep the team together until after the game is played instead of going to guys now and saying look you probably should go into the transfer portal now to help yourself bc you don't necessarily have a role on the team after the game is played. That is what I mean.

Literally nobody thinks any bowl game is in any way shape or form some milestone achievement now. They have never meant less, but WTH is a coach supposed to say?

Win: "Well we did it, We won this pointless extras game 1/4 of our starters sat out for. This was a waste of time."

Lose: "We didn't care about this game so we didn't prepare for it, even though it was a fun reward and extra reps. I'm glad we lost."

You're trying to add some evil intent to a situation that has none. You're describing what a coach is supposed to do, but trying to make him sound slimy for it because you don't like him.

Bc Matt Rhule has done nothing to warrant an extension and we has fans have to hold out hope that the coaches don't trip over themselves in the process. I don't have faith that he can get us back to constantly winning or even be a contender. This year was so easy for 9 wins and bc he and his coaches aren't great developers or recruiters our o-line sucked and d-line sucked and we as fans have to sit here and wish and dream.

You have a career in writing fan fiction all in front of you. Good start.

Almost all coaches not getting fired get extensions. Relax. He didn't get a raise, we added incentives for wins, and secured more NIL money to go recruit players to help us win more.

Without the DR injury we are likely 8-4 and playing for that 9th win. No we aren't great but we are a hell of a lot better than the previous regime's teams. Maybe step back and see if the recent changes work. Sure feels better than not making changes and hoping for better.

More help coaching DL
I hope he can help out. Sounds like hired now with future to be determined. I couldn't find anything about his career post NFL in 2012. No idea coaching experience.

Nice comment from Cam.
“When you have somebody who’s done it and lived that life, it’s a little different than some coaching styles are,” Lenhardt said. “He’s been in your shoes and knows what it takes. A lot of it is up here (points to head). It’s that mental aspect of the game rather than always X’s and O’s. It’s that mental part. That’s why I like him a lot.”

Is it’s possible we paid guys to not opt out or announce portal intent until after the bowl game? I was imagining more announcements before now.

Word is most NIL deals are structured to be paid on the 1st of the month. So players could collect their check on the 1st (maybe 2nd in January?) then enter the portal.

Bill Snyder from a conference championship standpoint and Nick Saban from a national championship standpoint quickly come to mind

I guess it's my bad for not specifying "at the same school", but Snyder fully accepted as a great example. Only trouble is, he's one of the top 10 best coaches of all time.

Did anyone think Pelini was in the echelon of all time greats? If they did, I don't trust their judgment towards anything, if they didn't, then they're in the same camp as me that seven years (especially at a blue blood) is beyond enough time for the data to tell us clearly who you are. He was trending downwards, or at best, showed us his ceiling in year one and year seven.
