****Huskers vs Utah Game Day Thread****

Here's how bad it is.

College football feels sorry for Nebraska. It's not just that we're bad. We're sad.

It's the running commentary for every announcer who covers our games, and even they admit they're mystified how the program continues to be so disappointing and irrelevant. They genuinely feel sorry for our fans.

My friends who used to tease me when Nebraska lost don't even tease me anymore. It would be like kicking a puppy.

I've been a fan for 60 years and I don't think I've ever been less optimistic about the next Nebraska football season.
You wrote my thoughts brother. Even my Iowa friends (yes I have some of those) don’t make fun of me anymore. We are truly the embarrassment of the BIG. I watched so many team play this month and I can honestly say that we were the worst bowl eligible team. Rhule must go…the sooner…the better. You can throw all the money you want, you cannot make Rhule a winning coach. He looks clueless and lost. Next year, if we make a bowl game, I will be shocked. Hire a young hungry coach who has a winning record even if he is from an FCS team. Rhule will never beat ranked opponents because he cannot outscheme a 5 year old.

Hurts, but it’s the truth. Not sure how we got here, decades of knee jerk reactions I guess.
I'd like to research, but I think we have got to have the longest draught from blue blood winner, too also ran, and return to the top....

I'd say Frank not getting Carl Crawford hurt. Firing him in 2003 really killed us. Needed 1-2 more years after staff changes

Betting the farm on Houston Nutt and missing and ending up with Cally who refused to fire Cos.

Hired Bo and refused to support him and recruiting, hated by AD, didn't like his temper, Carl and the boosters wife, Marvin and some recruiting trip issues....Fired Bo because well, Eichorst hated him and we didn't want to become iowa

Hired the anti Bo, butter scotch, pocket lint, nice grandpa HCMR who was Mr .500, Tried save his a$$ (to his credit) by firing multiple guys.

Got Scott Frost, thought it was awesome, dude was a flake, hired, demoted, and fired, but was just in over his head, had an absent AD and was the worst coach at NU in my life. Last 2 years too many.

Hired another HCMR. Mr. 500, Mr 3 year plan. Hired and fired on both sides, trying to find some magic, super fun and and great guy to hang out with, but his schtick has worn out.

So 2 guys he needed more time/support (Frank and Bo), one who should never have been hired (HCMR 1.0), One not fired soon enough (Frost) and HCMR 2.0, who needs ne fired, but won't.

So hoping that his hiring and firing will somehow make the Rubic's cube correct again.....

Look, anyone who thought this game would be close is delusional and probably shouldn’t be making posts bc they are out of touch. This was a HORRIBLE matchup from the word go! Yes, I am pissed, but expected a 17-20 pt loss. This isn’t Temple, Baylor and these are much different times, so anyone who was expecting that type a turnaround is also delusional. Matt Rhule hasn’t gotten it done and I am not happy either but as someone said earlier, he is the best coach we have had in quite sometime. He should NOT be fired and those who say that are the reason why we are here, being a coaching revolving door for 20 years. No, my standards are NOT low and I have personally attended two BC games, so I am from the glory days. Should he be concerned, yes, but not fired this year.

Lateef is not the guy for 2026. Have to get a competent passer out of the portal.

Whether that guy is a great runner or not shouldn’t matter nearly as much as simply finding anybody that’s significantly better than TJ overall.

This game is preview of what we’ll see against decent-to-great defenses next year if we roll him out.

And I’m not even sure you could even count on him to contribute a ton to the run game anyway because I’m not sure he’s even that durable.

I’ll make a prediction now that the sell out streak ends next season

I try to pick up a game or two, but won't bother. The experience just isn't there anymore. $100+ tickets, cramped seats, expensive parking, food, $12 beer. To beat a crap MSU team after no offense for quarters on end. DR won that game but sucked for so long, including losing 30 yards after getting in the red zone.

It was a win, but didn't feel like one. Comical to watch, expensive to be there, almost depressing to feel relieved to beat lower tier BIG schools.

The Northwestern game was the same.

I'll save my money next year, buy nice steaks, really good booze, and watch a better game on TV...or a movie if this portal stuff screws up college football.

If I had to "donate" for tickets I'd be wholeheartedly pissed at this garbage. Time to shut down the stadium expansion talk until they can win something. The stadium is good enough for who we are.

Same. I also have friends who going back to Pelini did the same thing. Since Frost's later seasons, they genuinely feel bad for me as a Nebraska football fan.

Well at least he’s on par with Mike Riley so there’s that

I feel bad for EJ who paid out of pocket to come and watch this $hit-show. Rhule needs to cover his expenses since this is actually Rhule’s $hit-show.
I gotta thank Dana, who I talk trash about, for keeping EJ here last season. Thank EJ for laying it all on the line this season and probably being a very large reason that we got to back-to back bowls this year. Hope he gets drafted to a team that will truly use his talents. Dude did so much more at NU with a lot less than some of our other great backs. And an AA on top of that.
