I agree, it's a good pickup to increase the talent in the room if Nebraska also picks up a proven product.

Nebraska needs to be looking at Anthony Colandrea from UNLV, Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year.
Alonza Barnett at James Madison - Sun Belt Player of the Year.
Colton Joseph at Old Dominion
Byrum Brown at USF
Drew Mestemaker at North Texas

They could even go after Jaden Craig at Harvard, a late round NFL prospect with 6,074 career passing yards with dual-threat ability.

There are probably 5 or 6 more I could list, all players with proven production that Nebraska could realistically land in the portal. If they land a player like that in addition to the career backup, then I'd be excited about the QB room.

I just struggle with us taking a back up. There's always more to the story. Just watched a D2 guy light up Georgia.

There are also a number of QBs that ended up really good that came from being a backup at their previous spot at an FBS program.

ND qb isn't coming here if nebraska is also bringing in a proven P4 starter. P4 starter also isn't coming here if there is going to be a 3 man competition for QB1. Any P4 starter in the portal that's worth anything is going to be trying to go to a playoff contender that will pay him the most money, not a team that will be in a fight just to make a bowl game next year.
