Portal QBs

Weird how people want to blame the coach/program/school because a commit had no integrity, within a system that has no rules, borders or limits.

CFB is a joke right now. There’s something very wrong when billionaires can throw bags at 18-22 year olds and that is what influences the sport. I don’t even care anymore. Hope everyone involved loses their a$$ and that Minchey breaks his leg.

We can take it over to the P&R thread, but this is the problem with a lot of things in the world.

Then to claim TJ is not it and the portal is the option only to poo poo a portal QB that is probably top 10..?? What exactly are you looking for..??

You might not have understood what I was saying, or I didn't specify who I was talking about.

Yeah, I did say that TJ is the guy "who has almost no passing prowess." I'm definitely standing by that statement for sure. Now, that's as of right now. I believe TJ could be a great starter in 2027, for what it's worth.

And I think Minchey would have been a really great option for us for 2026. So, I was looking for a player like Minchey - a redshirt junior who's fully ready to be a part of a serious program to pick up a lot of wins for 2026.

And I really don't like Chiles' passing ability at all. I honestly am not sure if he's as good as TJ.

*Edit: Although Red Five made a compelling argument in favor of Chiles a few posts back...

Well and it's like, I think what makes the NFL so great is that there's actually a lot of parity. And the parity almost surely comes from a much stricter sense of salary caps than major league baseball has, for example.

It's insane to not have strict salary caps for college football and to have things be like they are right now.

Kentucky insiders saying we offered Minchey $3M over 2 years ($1.25M/$1.75M). After losing Leavitt Kentucky came over the top with $3M for 1 year.
$3 million for Munchkin? Yep this sport is cooked. Unless Warren Buffett decides to get involved we are not at the card table. Surely he must have some nephew that likes Nebraska football? 😂

Like I said, I don't know if he is any good, but we saw him at his worst.

Some more stats: He did only threw 3 INTs on the year (2 were against NU) in 203 attempts (an INT every 67 throws). Dylan had 6 INTs in 250 throws (an INT every 42 throws). Taking into account their entire college careers, Chiles averages an INT every 40 throws. Dylan averaged an INT every 39 throws.

But didn't play again after throwing 14/28 for 130 yards and 0/0 vs Michigan (which was the week after his impressive Indiana showing). I think he was benched, but could have been hurt.

I put less fault on the young man than I do the system. If there was a couple million on the line, I'm sure most of us would take it, even if it wasn't an ideal situation.

I do agree that the game has become a joke and I, like you, think it needs to burn to the ground in order to rebuild something with at least a shred of parity and integrity.

I don't know what to think about Chiles. I also don't know where to look to see "who" has offered or "who" has interest in him, but I thought I saw somewhere that a few "power" programs who have been more successful than we have been that had Chiles on their radar. I may be wrong, but I thought his initial list in the portal was somewhat impressive. I will be the first to say that whether we like it or not, MOST college coaches and analyst know more that 99% of message board users.

Visiting NW.

He is a cheaper target than some. With good upside. In this day and age you have a multitude of QB targets. Doesn't mean he is everyones top guy. We are looking at Lagway, Chiles, the UNLV QB, Pribula, etc after Minchey's decommit.

Yeah, while the portal window is open there are literally no rules around being "committed" unless you've signed some actual legal document.

And then there are probably still no rules from backing out of that document.

Which I'm sure Minchey hadn't.

If reports are to be believed, he had our documents in his hands but didn't sign. And when Kentucky backed up a dump truck full of cash to his house he signed at the drop of a hat.
