Edit: sounds like he was a backup this year but was projected to start next year with their current #1 heading to the NFL.

Have seen some people elsewhere say his lack of productions (sacks) at UCLA was due to not being a fit for the scheme they were running on defense and that he'll fit in better in Aurich's 4-2-5. (not sure what the reason is for the lack of production in previous years though)

He was a Freshman. Guessing a backup!
