2025-2026 Portal Updates

up to 10,000 in the portal now? damn. oh well....it is what it is. good luck to all who have thrown away their college football careers
I wonder if a good portion of those that go into the portal are just done with the football grind and also never where into school / education. Meaning, if they don't' get a schollie someplace else, it saves face for really saying "I quit". And then they can go get a job and get loaded with their friends back home. Some players were never cut out for college and football combined, although they did get they're feet wet for awhile.

Normal attrition certainly accounts for some percentage of players technically in the portal. In the past they just went away, now they throw their name in the portal as they walk or are ushered out the door. I think the stat is roughly 30% of D1 athletes quit at some point. No idea how that translates to football specifically or the % of players in the portal, but it's surely a relevant %.

they have us ranked 18th. but losing dylan really hurts our ranking since he is so highly ranked by them

He's only 4*, and not as highly rated as he was coming out of HS. (Neither On3 nor 247 consider him a 5* QB anymore.)

Look at it this way: if you pull up our full list of guys coming and going and sort it by rating, the #1 guy is leaving, but #2-6 are guys coming in. It's a net gain.
