2025-2026 Portal Updates

Does this piss anyone else off? We took GA Tech’s OL coach, GA Tech has never won much of anything, they play in an inferior conference, we just had an all Big 10 RB, we have an obvious need for a RB 1, but nope off to GA Tech it is. 😠
He is from Georgia. Occams razor applies sometimes, you're overthinking this.

Posting this as my son played against him multiple times in HS. He is a matchup nightmare and can pluck 50/50 balls deep downfield. He’s your guy if you want to throw deeper downfield to the TE. Seems like you could get him on the cheap.

Why on earth would this piss you off?

Especially when you hear that A. he's getting anywhere from 2-3.5 million from Ga Tech (better than we could/would offer), B. the school that "has never won much of anything" just had a 9 win season and spent most of the season in the top 15 (better than us), and a kid isn't going to give a crap about the strength of a conference, except to maybe be more attracted to a school if they're strong and the conference is weak. Would you rather be an ACC champ or 18th out of 18 in the B1G?

Anyways, why the hell are you mad lmao

I’m miffed because I’ve been preaching forever that if we want to get back into the elite of college football, play and win some conference championships, get into the playoffs every once in awhile, etc. then we have to go after the players that will raise our program. We are nearing the end of recruiting/portal and we didn’t do that. Sure we got a piece here and there but we are not in the top 30 in regards to results. We need to be no lower than 15. So, you can see the writing on the wall we are in for a very tough season. A RB of Haynes caliber tells me we are serious about a running attack that can upset a team or two and keep us in games. But it’s like we can’t even be bothered. We are small little Nebraska and don’t have money like GA Tech. If this is true what are we even doing. We just had a phenomenal RB and we can’t get any RB to come to a historically great program for RBs? Did we land any big fish difference makers this cycle that can lead us to 8 or 9 wins next season?

Portal rankings mean very little. There are 3000 players in the portal, several of which haven’t seen the field in college. How can any service accurately rank how most of the players have developed over the last year or two? The team rankings are convoluted, trying to determine talent lost versus talent gained. Don’t get too high or low based on what on3 or 24/7 says.

Everyone has money now, including GT, and if you look at their class, it seems like they put most of their budget into this one player. If we had gotten Haynes, but didn’t get Colandrea, Black, Babalade, or Whittington, would you be happy right now? Everything pointed to GT the day he went into the portal, did he even look around for offers? Or did he only go in the portal because of that specific offer? We may still take rb before we’re done.

Maybe! We’ll know in just over 10 months.

Justice Haynes is also from Georgia. I am sure coming home was at least a factor in both NIL/being home. This is also his third team he has played for.

We just had a phenomenal RB who... wasn't a transfer portal get, and wasn't considered phenomenal, until he was. Maybe the staff really trusts that the guys we have can get it done, and are using their money wisely on other parts of the team?

We had a top 10 portal class last year, what did that get us?

Rhule and his GM spend money like it’s their own personal funds, like there is a salary cap or they were given a limit of money by the man that was lower than they led on.

Or, they have no idea what they are doing.

How much money exactly are they spending? How much more money than that amount is available that they aren’t spending?

I’m not privy to the NIL budget or expenditures like you must be to make that post.
