Huskers in 2008

Kansas fans are no different than any of us.
Except for the fact that they get all pissy when you disagree with em....
Yeah Cy, and you've been pleasant to me when I disagree with you. Kettle black much??
Then let's start over and be realistic here shall we? Here's the schedules for 2008

Week One

ISU vs South Dakota State - W (1-0)

KU vs Florida International - W (1-0)

Week Two

ISU vs Kent State - W (2-0)

KU vs Louisiana Tech - W (2-0)

Week Three

ISU vs Iowa - W (3-0) Iowa is going to be horrible in 2008...just watch

KU vs S Florida - L (2-1) S Florida is great early on...won't fade till midway through the season

Week Four

ISU vs UNLV - W (4-0)

KU vs Sam Houston State - W (3-1)

Week Five

ISU vs Kansas - Even though it's a home game...KU beats ISU (4-1 for ISU...4-1 for KU)

Week Six

ISU vs Baylor - W (5-1)

KU vs Colorado - W (5-1) It's at KU...so I'm giving you the benefit of a doubt here

Week Sever

ISU vs Nebraska - L (5-2) This is a Nebraska board after all...

KU vs Oklahoma - L (5-2)

Week Eight

ISU vs Texas A&M - W (6-2)

KU vs Texas Tech - L (5-3) Tech has too many weapons next year.

Week Nine

ISU vs Oklahoma State - W (7-2)

KU vs Kansas State - W (6-3)

Week Ten

ISU vs Colorado - L (7-3) It's in Boulder...we never win in Boulder

KU vs Nebraska - L (6-4) Revenge!!!

Week Eleven

ISU vs Missouri - L (7-4) Missouri looks like 2008's real deal right now

KU vs Texas - L (6-5) It's at Texas...they don't lose much in Texas

Week Twelve

ISU vs Kansas State - W (8-4) They will have collapsed and quit by then

KU vs Missouri - L (6-6)

And there you have it. ISU has an easy schedule with no top flight teams played back to back and all the really tough games played at home...plus they have an easy start to the season to help their young skill players get some confidence and winning attitude. KU has a killer last part of the schedule with the majority of those games played on the road. Both teams might eek out another win (I'm thinking maybe CU for ISU and Texas Tech for KU) or another defeat but looking at next year's returning teams that's looking like a pretty realistic version of what's going to happen. You can discuss that all you want but please...try to be civil.

Cy :worship - that is a totally logical scenario... but here's the thing, KU is ranked # 7 because of last year so there's no way ISU has a better record at the end of next season, just ask Clone ! :sarcasm

As a neutral observer (this trash talking is kind of fun :P )....

Iowa and USF could go the other way.

Predicting A&M and OSU wins seems questionable. Also, KSU...but of course we are all inclined to see things our way. I would've thought we'd have gone 11-2 this season.

KSU and all their juco players are going to be the major melt-down story of the Big 12 North in 08....

^ Ah.

I forgot about that.

I think that will be felt more down the road, though. Well, we shall see.

*shakes head at KSU*

just for my entertainment only

-- unbelieveably early!!

-- and totally worthless

As far as KU goes.. I predict three loses.

KU vs Oklahoma - L

KU vs Texas - L

KU vs Missouri - L

ISU returns 15 starters on offense and defense, from a poor 3-9 team. Looks like yet another poor recruiting class as well.

South Dakota State - (H) - Win

Kent State - (H) - Win

Iowa - (A) - Win -

UNLV - (A) - Win

Kansas - (H) - LOSS

Baylor - (A) - Win

Nebraska - (H) - LOSS

A&M - (H) - LOSS

OK State - (A) - LOSS

Colorado - (A) - LOSS

Missouri - (H) - LOSS

K State - (A) - WIN

6-6

If the season rolls out 6-6 -- well, it's what I expected.

If it rolls out any better...

:woo :woo :woo

opinions vary

GO BO!!

Welcome back, JGS30 :) Always good to have a friendly rival fan stirring some discussion. You shouldn't take all these long breaks, it's like nobody even remembers you.
Thanks Zoogies, I'm happy to be back and feel just as welcomed as last year! :)

I must say that I have really gotten under several posters skin since I've been back. It's nothing personal guys, I really don't mean to piss people off on here. I just don't like it when delusional fans like Cy run their mouth and predict my hawks to finish 5-7. That's just ignorant.

I've noticed that most of the posters on here weren't members back in September of 06 (when I joined). Guys, don't take this personally. Yes I argue with people, but it's all in good fun. I'm really not disrespecting NU in any way saying that I think KU will beat them in Lincoln this year.

Yes, I know you scored 39 points on our defense. I respect that. But keep in mind that Bill Young (DC) (who's gone now, and will be missed from KU's coaching staff) hadn't seen ANY footage of Ganz when he started against KU. It's difficult to prepare for someone you've really never had the opportunity to prepare for. The majority of your points were scored in the first half, then at the half Coach Young made the appropriate adjustments.

I would be lying if I said KU doesn't miss him...because we do. I think his departure may cost us a North title. But only time will tell. I'll take my chances with the 9 returning starters on defense we have back though.

:cheers
What's ignorant about 30 years of tradition (see figures above)? Certified fact....you have a decent year at Kansas, followed by a great year followed by a decade of total suck. Go ahead and say to yourself "Well...back then we didn't have this or back then we didn't have that!" but guess what? "Back then" when this was pointed out, people said the same thing! Returning starters? Big deal...ISU has 9 returning starters on defense and 9 returning starters on O. Does that make ISU destined for the top of the North?

Deny it any way you want but your coach isn't that good and your QB has only last year to stand on. They aren't the sure things a sane person would be basing a 10-2 prediction on. But...if it keeps your mind off the rest of your problems...light em up Jaywalk.

I think you're being a little hard on the fat man. I would say Mangino is in the top 25th percentile of coaches in the Big 12, maybe even in the top 10%. The last coach we saw accomplish what Mangino has accomplished in the Big 8 or 12 is Bill Snyder, and I think he was amongst the best. Look at how many successful coaches there are who once coached under Snyder. Kansas success last year was achieved somewhat by a favorable schedule, but it was also achieved because Mangino had them believing and they played their hearts out as a team.

Reesing may only have one year to stand on, but it was a very good year. The problem with forecasting future fortunes of Kansas relies soley around Reesing. If he gets injured, I think their season's outcome will be significantly different than if he stays healthy the entire year.

Sorry...

as an Isu alum you'll appreciate this..... ;)

learn to live with disappointment.

demand ignored.

KU's two losses will come to Oklahoma and possibly Texas. But I like our chances at home against Texas, just like the Huskers like their chances against KU in Lincoln.

Cy, the Texas and Texas Tech games are in Lawrence!!! You screwed that up. I see ISU going 6-6. Just being honest.

NU 8-4.......defense has a long way to go

KU 7-5.......sorry no cup cake schedule this year

ISU 6-6.......much improved but this is a long road

Pinkeye finds a way to drop 3 games

KSU turns into a JUCO as 80% of thier players are from one

CU 8-4 nice for the North to be a bit more balanced again

Wow what an interesting discussion on here. I guess we have considerable amount of time before August, let the trash talking begin huh?

I must admit I never would have thought I would see a ku fan and ISU fan on an NU board talking trash.

One thing to say, we all should respect the tradition that is Nebraska Football. Cy, myself and ku fan all wish our programs had that tradition to fall back on.

Next fall should be fun.

Well your heading in the right direction and that's when it's fun to be a fan. Last season was not a fun season, but next season is looking much better now that Bo is at the helm. This coaching staff seems young and ready to go so hopefully we can give Mizzou a game next season. :thumbs

I wish the other teams in the North luck next year, but this going to be a totally different Husker team. One with a chip on its shoulder and something to prove!

Reesing went 12-1 and looked very good in doing so. Very few interceptions. Beat the number 3 (?) team in the country in their bowl game. He supposedly can not do it again, all luck, because Kansas has never had back to back winning seasons or some other load of crap.

Now of course Ganz won a couple of games, threw numerous interceptions, he lost his best wide out, lost another month of practice due our non bowl eligible status, and we are lock for winning the division.

You guys need to read what you write.

Kansas, as we speak, is hands down better than Nebraska. Could that change by the time we play them? It is a strong possiblity. But looking at it other than threw Husker Glasses, he is seeing it pretty spot on.

I have read and reread the original post. I saw no attack or talking smack against Nebraska. Just the facts as they are today. Come fall, we will see where we are and where they are.
