Comcast or DirecTv? Need Input

After buying a new HDTV, I upgraded to Comcast's Digital Cable package so I could get channels in HD. But after seeing the huge increase in price and the numerous DirecTv commercials, I started to question whether I was getting the most for my money. I only get 15-20 channels in HD. The broadcats from ESPN HD OR FSN HD sometimes cut out. I often find I cannot see a game on FSN HD because Comcast isn't getting the right signal from FSN (this is what they tell me; not sure I believe it); so I have to end up watching it on SD FSN (which looks terrible on an HDTV).

Do any of you have DirecTv? and if so, what kind of package? I am really interested in the quality of their HD channels and their ability to show local channels.

 
Comcast is horrible. I would switch to Directv in a minute if it was an option for me, but since it is not. A friend of mine has all the HD Directv channels and it is far, far superior to Comcast.

 
i have directv with the choice package and there is like 35 hd channels but bigger package have more hd channels.

most of the hd channels look great but 4 or 5 channels are stretched to fit the tv.

otherwise i like it. :clap

 
We have dish network and they have a wide variety of HD programing. We love it and I highly recommend it.

 
I am happy with what I have through Cox, something like 25ish HD channels at the moment, and they cover the lions share of my watching. What doesnt come in HD that I watch, just doesnt come in HD at the moment.

 
Just to put a different spin on things - who will be your ISP? If Comcast, will they provide JUST Internet access without a cable package (I have Comcast, but I have both cable and Internet, so I don't know). I do know that Internet through a dish is crappy at best.

right now I have internet and digital cable with Comcast. $100/month
