i have seen in threads people saying bo was quoted as saying he didnt make any adjustments. but as far as I remember wasnt it the 2nd half when we went to the 3 man line with allen moving around? or am I not remembering it correctly?

According to the article in the paper that is part of the defense because it quoted Allen as saying he and Turner were the DE that practiced that. So as far as it being an adjustment I don't know but from what it sounds like it has been in the defensive gameplan all along.

I do believe there are numerous quotes in the papers where Bo is saying that no adjustments were made. They just played better in the 2nd half.

What?!?! You're telling me these magical adjustments everyone has been talking about that solve all problems weren't necessary? It's just that the PLAYERS starting playing better?

Absolutely mind blowing. :sarcasm

Yeah, what he said.

Also, during the first half, it didn't appear that there was anything wrong with the scheme. The players were just not tackling and playing very sloppy. When they came out during the second half, specifically in the fourth quarter, play was improved. They were making tackles and their play looked alot more crisp.

Consistency is key. I'm afraid right now the Huskers are not playing with alot of it.

the first time you will probably see adjustments is vs. VT. Depending on what they are doing...i am sure you will see adjustments against Mizzou.

However maybe Bo is just that damn good and he knows what they are going to do before they do it....so no adjustments will be needed

Cos didnt even know what a defense was. He was trying to find the clipboard that was jammed up his butt.

That's what was said, but they didn't use the 3 man front in the first half, at least I don't recall seeing it. I take that as an "adjustment", but the biggest adjustment was that everyone started tackling.

Bo was lying because I saw one BIG adjustment between halves....and ATTITUDE adjustment
:bang these guys must be slow then, Cy, because I didn't see any improvement until the 4th quarter. Personally, I would like to see more emotion, not only from the team, but from the coaching staff...sometimes you need a kick in the pants to get motivated to do something when your a kid.

that is just simply not true. look at the stats. they had something like 255 yard in the 1st half according tho the scoreboard in the stadium, and finished with like 353. now unless they sacked the QB like 8 times in the 4th quarter and didnt allow any yards, that is a pretty good performance for the 3rd quarter

Guess I am judging by the offense and how many points we didn't get until the 4th quarter. It is all perception, and the best perception is the final score...we won. I just hope that we come out of the locker room this week looking like we did in the fourth quarter last week. The first 3 quarters seemed so anemic.

The defense only allowed like 58 yards total in the 3 quarter from their offense. That's a damn good performance and a definate change from the 1st half.

Well, I think it was pretty well documented that the defense saved our bacon last week by not allowing them to be way ahead of us by the 4th quarter, I kept thinking in the 3d quarter that our offense was wearing out our defense by keeping them on the field so much, and figured that would come back to bite us in the 4th quarter. So, all in all, I do have to admit that the defense was there in the 3rd quarter especially. Like I said in another post, we are so used to dominating on the defensive side of the ball, but it is hard to come to terms with the fact that it is going to take some time to get the defense to where it was.

I am not sure what was going on with our offense, that is one area that I didn't think we would have a problem this year with after last year, and having Watson running the show there. I hope it was just a bad game, because we don't have the depth on defense to keep our guys out there all the time by going 3 and out on pass plays that don't even burn up the clock. Our running game hopefully will get well...we need to be able to run the clock, not have the other team get all the time in the world to come back.

The 4th quarter, after the run back, looked more like the Huskers we are used to. Thank God we weren't playing a Big 12 team...we would have been at the bottom side of a lop sided score I am sure, and I am not sure these kids would have gotten back up in the 4th quarter like they did. It would have looked like last years team.

The offense definately needs to help the defense out by running the clock some. I really think that if they give Helu the ball more we will be more successful on the running side of the ball. I think the offense looked flat immediately out of the gates and think that maybe the earlier starting time for the game might have been part of the problem so they should play better this weekend.

:yeah The early start time was something they kept talking about on the radio broadcast...but in my mind, that is a poor excuse. We know in advance what time kick off is set to be, and in a lot of cases it is us that does set them, we should be ready to play no matter what time the game is. I didn't hear anyone in China during the olympics using that kind of excuse.

I do realize that there are times, like going out to the west coast for a night game, or going to the east coast for a morning game, that times are set by television...but if we let that excuse go, then we should have never won a NC, because just about every one of those games was at night, and later at night to boot.

I haven't given up on Lucky...but if he don't start performing up to expectations, maybe Helu should be named starter. I am not in favor of this rotation thing they got going, just to have a rotation. I would be okay with it if they just came out and said that it was situational. I know they throw Helu in there on close yardage, because he is so big...but I think Lucky could be a really good long yardage back.

Not so sure about adjustments, but the difference was:

1. Improved tackling in 2nd half

2. Paul's KO return for a TD (which woke up the entire state, including some parts of Wyoming)

3. Kyler Reed getting knocked out of the game. Replacement QB wasnt bad, but not as good.
