It's time...

I See Red People

All-Conference
....for the offense, defense, and special teams to play to their potential and do it for four quarters. With a week off coming up, the players need it to go into VT with the right attitude. Two weeks after a loss is a long time.

Totally agree...if they lose this week, it could set the flavor for the season...if they win, they still have a lot of hard work to do to be ready for VT. We are lucky that VT is having their own problems. We just need to be more prepared than they are, especially mentally.

I agree. It's time for the 3rd game of the season and I feel like we're still waiting for something to happen.

The great thing about this week is New Mexico St. is terrible and a lot of bench players need to see time for NU to create depth. I think this is a great tune up game before the Virginia Tech game. No worry of a letdown either.

Pretty confident after last weeks performance! If there is one thing they have it's a good QB. Holbrook can chuck the rock man! If we find ourselves in the kinds of situations we've put ourselves in on D so far this year. It could be a MUCH closer game than you think. :ohnoes

If we don't start off strong and get some points on the board early. This kind of an offense can and will score big! Face it we haven't exactly lit it up on either side of the ball to speak of.

Joe needs a good game. The defense needs a good game. I think that this game will tell us how the VT game will go and that will set the tone for the rest of the season. It all begins tomorrow.

With the personnel issues on the OL and DL, this team may not start to fully gel until Mizzou. Maybe even TT or ISU. But that's OK, because we'll be competitive until then, and when we do, we may raise some eyebrows.

I'm not particularly impressed with VT. I just don't see a lot to be fearful of. We'll have an extra week to get people healed up and properly in the mix for them.

I don't think anybody is giving NMS enough credit. Everybody keeps saying they suck and we are going to have our way with them. I really don't think this is going to happen. Had they not lost half of their team due to injuries they would have been in a bowl last year. They are also stacked 4 to 5 deep with NFL talent Wide Receivers. Yea, I know they opened their big mouths and talked some smack but, they will be the best group of WR's the Huskers face this year. They have a pretty talented QB that knows he can kill us going deep. Their defense is as wacky as it comes, but as stupid as it sounds it has turned horrible D's into top 25 performers in less then a year. If we can't run the ball it's going to be closer then you think.

While I agree we shouldn't take this team lightly (or any other), their defense is not that great.

From the youtube clips out there, it looked like they were not able to defend little sprint plays to the sideline all that well. Fresno St. was running those for 9-10 yards at a crack. This plays right into Helu's (and to some extent, Lucky's) strengths. I think we'll take it to them on the ground.
