Did not cost us the game. I do not recall hearing that it was a ref that blocked the punt or intercepted Ganz. I did not hear about a ref taking the ball into the end zone and scoring for VA Tech. We lost because our execution was flawed and we were exposed a few to many times. Bad calls and close calls are part of the game and when you lose they stick out more but in reality they are for the most part just a small part of the game.

Suh's late hit could have gone either way. And when it's a hit on a quarterback who is already committed to going out of bounds, it usually goes the way it did. I've seen it a few times this year in games around the country. Bo went a little too far, which is the mark of passion and inexperience. It happens, as much as it sucks. I was upset last night, but after a little sleep, I can see it for what it was. The Huskers got beat by a better team.

Doesn't make it hurt any less. Oh, well.

:yeah I DID notice that despite the loss, the sun still managed to rise.

Agreed 110%

Unfortunately a small part of the game in a five point game is a big part of the game. That call was pretty shoddy, no offense. Sure, it took a hell of a lot more than that for thirty-five points to magically appear on the scoreboard, but when a competitive game is ended prematurely for something as miniscule as a huge guy not being able to stop himself going out of bounds, it kinda sucks.

I'm with you on this one... there are times when a bad call can cost you a game... and it did last night. We had momentum, we had position, we were going to score and win the game... but because some ACC jerk off feels some urge to flag a questionable play (at BEST it was questionable) it triggered Bo to do what every fan at the game was feeling... to lash out at their incompetence!!

Points: 1) the clock management at the end of the game... WTH!!? The play clock changed 3 times from 1:15 and then they give us 2 seconds!!?

2) the measurement where the stick was placed BEFORE the ball was placed... sign of incompentence.

3) Where were the holding calls on VT?!

4) Suhs call... weak, weak weak!! IF they called that then they should have done point 3.

Nuff said... know what you are dealing with in the ACC - incompetence, cheating and NO HONOR.

Bring on Mizzou.

As an example of a call going the other way, take another look at the replay of the McNeill TD pass catch. On that play, Young, the TE lines up on the right side of hte offensive formation, opposite McNeill. Young is apparently attempting to run some sort of route over the middle, probably with a bit of a pick for McNeill. Given how wrong things go for Young, it's hard to tell exactly what he is trying to do. At any rate, the VT linebacker with responsibility for covering Young drops back into exactly the spot Young is trying to run through. Unable to adjust, Young runs into, and then over, the VT linebacker. Young then falls and rolls twice down field. After barely missing tripping McNeill, he rises to his knees just in time to tackle the VT corner back who is covering McNeill across the field in man coverage. The VT corner back goes down. The end result; McNeill is wide open for a TD catch. It's easy to see how Young could have been called for one, or even two, offensive pass interferences.

the ACC officials are very good, just like the Big 12 officials. The late hit by Suh would have been called almost 100 percent of the time by any officials in any league. To suggest some kind of bias on a televised game for half the country to see is nothing but blind allegiance.

There is a lot of football left to be played.

I'm not suggesting a bias, I'm suggesting a crappy call.

No, they didn't cost NU the game.

They certainly made it harder to try to win, though, which is BS.

When did TuffTiger get a referee job with the Atlantic Coast Conference? You would have thought we'd heard something about this...

;)

See this is what happens in close games. Some people blame the refs but as the op said we lost the game not the refs

As I recall from watching the play unfold and the instant reply on the Jumbo-tron, it was actually the other way around. The VT defender was trying to keep up with Young. Defender goes down and incidentally trips Young from behind. The two of them are in the direct line the other DB needs to take to follow McNeill. If it wouldn't have been a touchdown it would have been interference on VT...
