The Nebraska football team practiced for a little more than two hours Wednesday in Memorial Stadium in preparation for its game Saturday against No. 4 Oklahoma. Head Coach Bo Pelini was pleased was his team’s effort Wednesday.
“I’m happier with how we practiced today,” Pelini said. “We practiced better. We executed better and I just liked a lot more of what I saw.”
One thing the Huskers will do this week to try and match the speed of the Sooners is line up redshirt freshman Marcus Mendoza at wide receiver. Pelini hopes the speedster from Texas is able to create some mismatches against the OU defense
“He’s done well. He’s adjusted to it well,” Pelini said. “He’ll be ready to spot some guys if we need him too. He has a lot of strengths. He’s a good football player. When you’re out there at the wide receiver position you’re going to be out in space. We thought he was a guy that could add some speed to what we’re doing.”
On the injury front, senior running back Marlon Lucky will be full go on Saturday against Oklahoma after suffering a minor ankle injury in the Huskers’ victory over Baylor last weekend.
“He was back yesterday and did will,” Pelini said. “He practiced most of the practice today. We gave him a break today at the end. He’s OK. He’ll be fine.”
The Huskers and Sooners will meet this Saturday in Norman with kick-off set for 7 p.m. The game will be carried nationally on ESPN.
I thought we had a speedster at receiver Curenski Gilleylen I guess this is what happens when you dont catch passes as a receiver.
