More Accolades for Joe Ganz!

From Tom Griffin at ESPN:

"Joe Ganz, Nebraska - Here's the statistic that puts it all into perspective for Ganz. He's going to end up the season with better numbers than Zac Taylor notched when he won the Big 12's Offensive Player of the Year in 2006. Ganz would be an all-conference player and maybe even a Heisman contender in several other conferences if not for the stellar seasons of the players above him. Ganz's leadership has also mushroomed as the season continues, directing the Cornhuskers to the cusp of a New Year's Day bowl. Not many forecasters who have expected that before the season."

Nice to see that we at NU aren't the only ones that love this guy!

If we had one loss he'd be a Heisman contender. His numbers compare extremely favorably with the top tier, the team just does not, yet.

This is great for Joe....I hope he gets a chance somewhere next year....I could see him make a practice squad and make his way on to a team.

I actually think he has a chance to make a team. Take a look at some of the QB's starting or at least making an NFL roster: Sage Rosenfels, Alex Smith, Rex Grossman, Kyle Boller, Joe Flacco, Tavaris Jackson, Chad Pennington, Trent Edwards, Tyler Thigpen, Brody Croyle, Gus Frerotte, Dan Orlovsky, JT O'Sullivan, Ryan Fitzpatrick, JaMarcus Russell and the scum Philip Rivers (God I hate him). Watching some of these guys play is like watching the Special Olympics. One giant cluster f@ck!! They don't make their reads, they take too many sacks, they turn the ball over constantly, and worst of all, they all lose!!

I think Joe is cerebral enough to learn any offense and once he does, he has enough skills to accomplish the task. Teams need to quit focusing on the so-called "prototypical" size and arm strength they seem to value so much and focus more on the player himself. Some guys have it and some guys don't. Just because you have the size and the arm doesn't mean you can make the right decisions, lead a team and win games. If you watch enough games, as I'm assuming most general managers do, the players that win become fairly obvious.

The only setback for Joe maybe the sheer # of quarterbacks eligible for the NFL this year. The Big 12 is stacked with talent and then you have the rest of the world, HA HA!! Anyways, I hope he gets the chance to play. Yes, he might not be the "prototypical" QB, but he can make the right reads (most of the time), he's a leader, and he has the competitive drive to win every time.

I think the biggest knock on Joey is he doesn't have the strongest arm in the world. Not a great vertical passer and maybe can't thread the needle too well.

Ohhhh, is that all? :sarcasm

What else do you have against him??
Well, since you asked, he's kinda small. Just can't see him as a QB in the NFL is all.

But then again, nobody gave him much of a chance at NE either...

With this game it proves Ganz doesn't have to do everything
